Job Description:
Huntsman Corporation is now looking for a dynamic individual as a R&T Lab Scientist.
This position will be based in Mumbai, India.
As a R&T Lab Scientist, you will:
Executing laboratory activities to support product development, testing, and market competitiveness.
Design and set up experiments for new product development projects.
Evaluate product performance through comprehensive testing of mechanical and application properties, including Tg, Compressive Strength, Shore Hardness, Insulation Resistance, Flexural and Tensile Strength, Impact Strength, Film Properties, and Lap Shear Strength.
Conduct testing to evaluate physical and chemical properties of products, including Viscosity, Gel Time, Gardner Color, Epoxy Value, Amine Value, pH, and Moisture Content.
Generate and analyze test data and prepare comprehensive reports on application parameters for both new and existing products.
Analyze competitor samples from the market to benchmark product performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Evaluate and qualify new and alternate raw material sources to maintain product quality while driving cost reduction.
Familiarity with testing methodologies for finished products across Coatings, Construction, Electrical & Electronics, Composites, and Adhesives will be an added advantage.
Support packaging-related activities, including New Product Introductions (NPIs); knowledge of packaging materials is considered an advantage.
Visit customers to understand their needs and capture potential market information.
Technical Trainings & Demonstration: Conduct technical training sessions and demonstrate product applications to marketing and sales associates, distributors, and customers.
EHS: Maintain high standards of housekeeping and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) within the area of responsibility to prevent incidents, ensure compliance, and project a professional environment for customers and internal stakeholders.
What skills and experiences are we looking for?
M.Sc / B.Tech / M.Tech with 4 – 8 years of experience
Hands-on experience in testing products across Coatings, Construction, Adhesives, Electrical, Composites segments, with a strong understanding of performance evaluation and application methodologies.
Strong knowledge of polymer chemistries, particularly Epoxy, Polyurethane (PU), and Methacrylate systems.
Proficiency in handling laboratory and analytical equipment, including UTM, Impact Strength Tester, Viscometer, Gel Time Tester, DSC, FTIR, and GC.
Effective communication skills, with proficiency in English (spoken and written); knowledge of Hindi and local language is preferred.
Strong computer proficiency with the ability to prepare technical reports; working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is essential.
