R&M OT Process - SPU/GPU

Purpose 

Opportunity to join as an experienced Operations Technician Process – Sulphur Pelletizer Unit (SPU) for the first Deepwater Sour Gas development in Sarawak, the Rosmari and Marjoram Onshore Gas Plant (OGP) to deliver Safe production of hydrocarbon within operating envelope, business targets, and regulatory compliances. 

Skills and Requirements 

Minimum  

1. 6 years’ relevant Process technical experiences in Offshore Oil and Gas Facilities or Sour Gas Plant or Integrated Refinery/Petrochemical plant  

2. Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia communication/writing skills, with ability to interface well with various stakeholders 

3. Good analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills  

4. Sulphur Pelletizer Unit experiences at Sour Gas Plant 

Preferred 

1. BTEC Certification or equivalent qualification  

2. Technical/Engineering Diploma or Degree of CGPA > 2.5 

3. Sarawakian / Sabahan or PR 

Dimensions  

The incumbent will be based in the current working/base location at the early stage of the project and will progressively be relocated to Bintulu R&M OGP Office to support the Commissioning, Start Up, and Operations of OGP.  

1. Reports to R&M Production Delivery Manager GPU/Utilities of Sarawak Gas.  

2. Staff Numbers: Direct reports – 0, Indirect reports – 0, Contractors – 5 

3. At Company’s discretion, the incumbent may work at normal office hour of 5 working days per week.   

4. R&M OGP produces 800 MMscf/d of Gas and 17kboe/d of NGL with high Annual Operating Expenditure (OPEX). Gas production is expected to start in 2026 and will be piped to the neighboring Petronas Liquified Natural Gas complex. R&M fields are situated approximately 220km off the coast of Bintulu. The project comprises a remotely operated offshore platform and onshore gas plant, with infrastructure that includes one of the longest sour wet gas offshore pipelines in the world stretching more than 200km. R&M will be mainly powered by renewable energy; utilizing solar power offshore and hydroelectric power onshore.  

5. Inlet Receiving Facility systems from Offshore RMP, separation, stabilization, compression and mercury removal prior to gas sweetening processing and gas/condensate metering.  

6. Gas Processing Unit systems for high H2S acid gas removal, stabilization, sulphur recovery/palletization, and MEG system for export of sweet gas and sulphur to customers  

7. Utilities systems, i.e. steam system, boilers, service water, instrument airs, nitrogen, and other utilities system for R&M OGP.  

Accountabilities 

R&M OGP HSSE Management System 

1. Goal Zero Target: Relentlessly pursue the goal of zero harm to people (Personal Safety) and no leaks (Process Safety). 

2. Emergency Response: Serve as the on-scene commander or team member during drills and emergencies. 

3. Worksite Audits: Conduct audits of worksites, promote proactive safe behavior, and document findings. 

4. Competence Requirements: Complete Front-Line Barrier Management competence requirements in time for the start-up of the R&M facility. 

Technical 

 1. Sulphur Pelletizer Unit: Prepare, hand over, take over, and commission SPU equipment (ownership) for operations and maintenance in a safe condition, ensuring full compliance with SEAM requirements (e.g., PTW). SPU ownership starts from Liquid Sulphur Tank up to sulphur loading to truck.  

2. Troubleshooting: Lead other technicians in root cause troubleshooting of SPU equipment and facilitate the elimination of bad actors. 

3. Collaboration: Work with Team Leads, OR&A Engineers, and Vendors to assist in the commissioning and operations of SPU equipment, including subsystems and interfaces, to gain technical and operational knowledge. 

4. Periodic Checks: Perform periodic checks on Rotoformers, liquid sulphur pumps, liquid sulphur tank, liquid sulphur lines, hopper, conveyor belts, and other SPU equipment. Report abnormalities, plan, and execute corrective actions to restore them to their original intent. 

5. Operational Responsibility: During the Operate phase, drive availability, reliability, and productivity within the assigned SPU area of the plant. 

6. Ensure Safe Production (ESP): Apply ESP within the Production team as part of daily activities and provide coaching to junior staff. 

7. Maintenance: Independently execute and coach other technicians in preventive or corrective maintenance to ensure the reliability and integrity of SPU equipment. 

8. Additional Roles: Ta ke on more safety-critical roles and technical tasks as required by business needs.
