This position reports to:
Center of Excellence Leader - LCA & Ecodesign__
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology, software, product, and system development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.
This role is contributing to the EL smart power business in Xiamen China.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Assess the environmental impacts of a product throughout its entire life cycle (LCA), starting from development phase through production, identifying environmental hotspots and opportunities for innovation
- Manage Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) projects: from data compilation, through third-party verification, ensuring compliance with international standards and supporting product credibility in target markets.
- Contribute to leading Eco-design implementation across Product Development, defining and optimizing environmental KPIs to advance product performance and circularity targets.
- Monitor emerging trends in Product Sustainability field to keep our portfolio competitive
- Support & cooperate to achieve Division Sustainability targets through cross-functional collaboration and timely project execution
- Collect, analyze & synthesize complex environmental data from diverse sources to inform design decisions and benchmark against industry best practices.
Qualifications for the role
- A bachelor's or higher degree in electrical, mechanical, environmental engineering, or other relevant sciences.
- 1-4 years of experience in product design & development, quality, value engineering, or costing.
- Experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life Cycle Thinking projects.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written) with strong communication skills.
- Experience in Eco-design principles and their application to product development.
- Proficiency in LCA modeling software (SimaPro is a plus).
- Passionate about Circularity and Sustainability topics with an innovative mindset.
- Highly motivated team-player with a collaborative, learning-oriented, and solutions-focused approach.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and interface with global stakeholders.
