In the R&D Supervisor role, the ideal candidate will serve as a people manager of scientists who are involved in design, development and transfer IVD or research use assays and reagents for the flow cytometry platform. The role can wear several hats as needed by the business including that of subject matter expert or a technical lead in addition to the people management role. The ideal candidate is both a people manager and a technical authority, capable of translating strategic objectives into executable plans while maintaining scientific and operational excellence. 

This position reports to the R&D Manager and is part of the Research & development department team located in Bangalore, India and will be an on-site role.   

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Serve as a Supervisor/ Manager responsible for the design, development, and optimization of reagents and applications used in flow cytometry-based products and solutions.
  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of development Scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability and continuous learning and have oversight by monitoring experimental progress, mentoring, training, and supporting team members as required. 
  • Leverage strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop innovative, practical, and scientifically sound solutions for complex technical and development challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with quality management system requirements, technical standards, and regulatory expectations throughout the reagent design and development lifecycle.
  • Review comprehensive technical reports and development summaries, ensure the strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and internal quality procedures throughout all phases of design and development.
  • Plan and prioritize resources effectively to balance innovation and sustainment activities.
  • Be present at Gemba or Laboratory and if required for business or for technical leader role, to spend the time on Wet lab activities at <50%..

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Protein chemistry, Life sciences, or related discipline, for example bachelor’s degree in field with 9+ years’ experience OR Master’s degree in field with 7+ years’ experience OR Doctoral degree in field with 5+ years’ experience.
  • Knowledge of Flow cytometry or other Assay development techniques would be an added advantage. 
  • People management experience of 2+ years would be an advantage

Skills Required

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Protein Chemistry, Life Sciences, or related with required experience (Bachelor's +9 years OR Master's +7 years OR Doctorate +5 years)
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and quality management systems
  • Experience in assay development and/or flow cytometry techniques
