Who You Are
We are searching for a Research & Development Mechanical Engineer who will execute mechanical design, support, and research engineering tasks for new products in the robotics painting market. The size and complexity of each assigned task will vary, and will require attention to both engineering and design detail. You will be responsible for the design of robotic linkages, selection of drives, and various other peripheral components, and understand how these elements impact product performance, reliability, and cost.
In addition to new product research and development assignments, you will also be assigned to resolve current issues with existing products and installations. You will work with various stakeholders to investigate and resolve mechanical hardware issues, including but not limited to motion, electrical and fluid-handling components.

- Develop, update, modify and release component and assembly designs and drawings using SolidWorks
- Define and implement required analysis for mechanical design problems
- Review and rationalization of commercial component options for a design
- Design castings, weldments, drive components, and various other machined parts
- Complete and release production drawings with minimum supervision
- Establish dimensions and tolerances for new components, including application of GD&T principles
- Address and resolve design concerns identified by assembly technicians and/or suppliers
- Estimate the duration and labor cost to complete a proposed design
- Release components and bills of materials (BOMs) in the Oracle ERP system
- Develop and execute paint product validation and performance tests
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative robotic painting systems
- Develop simple project schedules to support engineering activities and project milestones
- Create technical procedures, work instructions and content for product documentation
