Our Purpose
Within the Core Airways R&D Released Product Engineering group, the RPE engineer’s primary responsibility will be to support Airways disposable medical devices currently on the market. The R&D RPE Engineer will research, test and validate components, materials and applications while sustaining current product designs. The R&D RPE Engineer II is responsible for the design history files, determining test requirements, V&V testing and/or coordinating V&V testing, and design controls. In addition to implementing moderate design changes that either enhance performance or address quality issues, the RPE engineer supports/ performs complaint investigations, determines root cause failure modes and provides solutions for these product lines.

A Day in The Life Of:
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
• Perform design verification testing of products to ensure product designs meet pre-determined specifications.
• Liaising with manufacturing for the planning and coordinating manufacture of test samples. pack down, labelling and shipping of finished product samples to external test sites when required.
• Review and analyse test results using statistical methods and software.
• Learn and use the CAP Agile electronic change control documentation system.
• Write design verification test plans, protocols and reports and generate / update other design controls documents, drawings and BOMs as required.
• Manage, care and maintenance of R&D Laboratory test equipment, jigs, and fixtures.
• Participate in failure investigations and root cause analysis.
• Liaise and collaborate with R&D Sustaining and other cross functional colleagues in Athlone Ireland, Shanghai China, Juarez Mexico, and Boulder Colorado.
• Present project status updates to management and teams, as required.
• Works to maintain product performance and quality for existing products by leading and assisting with projects relating to regulatory compliance, CAPA resolution, design changes, failure investigation and root cause analysis, process enhancement and improvement, test methods and tooling design,
• Follows strict adherence to policies and procedures associated with an FDA and ISO controlled environment.
Key Skills & Experience
• Level 8 Hons Degree or higher in Engineering, Biomedical Science, Quality or a related discipline is required.
• 2 years’ experience in a similar role with experience in technical report writing and testing is a distinct advantage.
• Ability to work on own initiative, with attention to detail, good documentation practice, and tenacity to remain at tasks is essential.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, as required to meet project completion deadlines.
- Experience in creating drawings and models using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Creo and SolidWorks would be an advantage for this role.
• Medical device industry, regulated environment, and design controls experience would be an advantage for this role.
