Are you ready to turn ideas into real-world solutions? At Alfa Laval, we’re looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our Business Unit Marine Solutions (BU MAS) at the Qingdao Marine site. You’ll be part of our Research & Development (R&D) organization, working within the Product Maintenance & Development (PDM) team—a group dedicated to transforming concepts into reliable, high-performing products.
Your MissionIn this position, you will be responsible for creating and updating the technical documentation and reference materials, in line with our design guidelines, that support the production of our electrical cabinets. Your work ensures that every component meets design requirements and supports the R&D projects you’re involved in—before they move to our Engineering & Supply (E&S) organization for production.
You’ll act as a key link between R&D, E&S, panel builders, classification societies, and the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) team. Collaboration is central to your success, as you’ll work closely with colleagues in China and Europe to implement design changes and continuous improvements
What you know:- Your educational background (M.Sc./B.Sc.) from electrical or automation engineering, or a comparable technical background
- You have a solid understanding of electrical components, instruments, control panels and control systems
- Experience with electrical hardware design and design tools like E-plan
- Familiar with building of electrical control panels and PLC-based control systems
- You are active, systematic and structured in your work.
- You are team player, and you have ability to co-ordinate between different stakeholders
- You are flexible and positive to changes
- Good English skill both oral and written
About the job:
- Safety is priority in all our work. You ensure that our designs are compliant and according to rules and regulations.
- Responsible of electrical hardware design for our control system together with your colleagues in Europe.
- Ensuring design changes and improvements for the electrical cabinets are carried out.
- You ensure that electrical design and components match the R&D project specific requirements before handing over to E&S and other stakeholders.
- Guide, train and support our internal stakeholders.
- Participate and support during FAT of electrical cabinets.
- Communicate and co-ordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience and knowledge from boiler systems and/or exhaust gas cleaning systems for Marine Industry
- Experience and knowledge from marine / shipbuilding industry, marine standards and marine class requirements
