Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology, software, product, and system development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.

This role is contributing to Electrification Business Area / Smart Buildings / Energy Distribution / R&D Line Protection
You will be mainly accountable for:
Electromechanical design and development of line protection devices, including miniature circuit breakers, switches, and accessories, working as an independent and reliable contributor in R&D projects.
Translating product specifications and customer requirements into designs, with a strong emphasis on new product development and technical ownership.
Creating and maintaining 3D models and detailed drawings using modern CAD tools (e.g. Creo/ProE).
Performing various tasks in the assigned area from building concepts, gathering requirements to designing, implementing, integrating, prototyping, testing, technology transfer or maintenance to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and compliance requirements.
Pursuing new ideas for technological innovation and sharing expertise in team meetings and technical reports.
Connecting with relevant groups and professional networks to broaden areas of knowledge and expertise.
Qualifications for the role
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Electromechanical/ Mechatronics Engineering.
Highly skilled in / 5+ years of experience with the following:
Electromechanical new product design from requirements through testing.
3D CAD modeling (CREO preferred) and creation of detailed drawings for mechanical and electromechanical components.
Prototyping of components and devices.
Bill of materials creation and management, and experience working within PLM systems (PTC/WINDCHILL preferred).
Cross-functional collaboration in a manufacturing environment.
Enhanced knowledge in / 2+ years of experience with the following:
New product design within line protection products
Project or sub-project management, including end-to-end ownership of schedules, deliverables, and cross-functional execution.
Ability and desire to grow into a role with increasing responsibility.
Legally authorized to work in the European Union on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
Communicating at ease in English/German.
