Job Description:
The quantitative analyst will play a key role in supporting and enhancing our insurance hedging and market risk management programs. The role involves conducting advanced quantitative research and development, while also generating fixed income portfolio analytics and investment insights.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong quantitative background, a genuine interest in fixed income investments, and intellectual curiosity. Ideal candidates will bring sharp analytical skills, a collaborative mindset, great attention to detail, and a strong eagerness to learn about financial markets, derivatives, and investment strategies.
Candidate Note: This role is a Hybrid role which will require an in-office presence in the Philadelphia area.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support, maintain, and enhance existing insurance hedging programs; produce detailed hedging performance attributions and generate insights to improve results and meet evolving business needs.
- Leverage programming, data analytics, and AI tools to automate, integrate, and streamline workflows.
- Generate fixed income portfolio risk analytics and performance attributions to support portfolio management decisions; develop expertise across a broad range of fixed income instruments to provide deeper insights.
- Execute trades across derivatives (interest rate, equity, inflation) and fixed income instruments.
- Develop a strong understanding of evolving macroeconomic trends and government policies, providing valuable inputs and recommendations to support investment decision-making.
- Contribute to idea generation by staying current on life insurance industry trends, investment strategies, and risk management approaches; identify opportunities in financial markets to improve the risk/reward profile of derivatives and fixed income portfolios.
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights; conduct quantitative analysis (e.g., stress testing, Monte Carlo simulations, VaR, derivative risk analysis, hedging strategies) to support and refine investment ideas.
- Produce standard and ad hoc risk and performance reports tailored for diverse audiences, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and timely delivery.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative/science/engineering disciplines; Master’s degree a plus
- 1–5 years of experience in financial services or a quantitative role; exceptional candidates without prior work experience will also be considered
- Proficiency in programming with R and/or Python, with ability to build and maintain complex models
- Strong foundation in Financial Mathematics, including derivative pricing theory and practical applications
- Basic knowledge of fixed income instruments and fixed income portfolio construction
- Solid knowledge of modeling techniques such as Monte Carlo simulation, sensitivity analysis, historical back test, and risk analytics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and collaborate effectively in a team setting
- Strong desire to pursue and deepen knowledge of financial markets and investments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Insurance products knowledge
- CFA candidate
- Successfully passed FINRA series 3 exam or willingness to obtain license
Location: Conshohocken, PA (Hybrid work schedule)
Base Salary Range: $95,000- $115,000
