QUALITY SYSTEMS MANAGER

Position Summary

The Quality Systems Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust Quality Management System (QMS) within a manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 standards, customer requirements, and applicable military specifications. This role serves as a key cross-functional leader, working collaboratively with stakeholders across two business units to align, standardize, and continuously improve processes that drive product quality, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the alignment, integration, and standardization of quality processes across two business units to ensure consistency and efficiency
  • Ensure quality systems are aligned with ISO standards, customer, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate will all business functions to develop and define processes across the organization
  • Identify deviations from quality standards (ISO, MilSpec, customer) and implement corrective actions
  • Lead initiatives to improve processes, reduce defects, and enhance QMS effectiveness
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops and stakeholder meetings to drive process harmonization and best practice sharing
  • Oversee internal audit programs, ensuring audit readiness and compliance across both business units
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external audits, including customer and regulatory/military audits
  • Monitor quality system performance using data and metrics; identify trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on QMS requirements, procedures, and quality standards
  • Support risk management activities, including process risk assessments and mitigation planning

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of ISO 9001:2015, with demonstrated history of audit success
  • Familiarity with military specifications (e.g., MIL-STD, AS9100, or similar) and customer-specific requirements
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and technology skills
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and influence stakeholders
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and organizational skills
  • Experience with auditing (internal and external) and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience as a quality manager in a manufacturing / industrial setting, with a minimum of 5 years leading a team
  • Experience in quality excellence, ISO Audit & certification, and MIL-I-45208 knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of formal education and experience
  • ASQ (or equivalent) certification heavily preferred
