Summary

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for front-line leadership for Quality personnel and supports the Quality Manager in implementing and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS) for Engineered Performance operations.  Supervise daily inspection and quality-control activities associated with equipment receipt, disassembly, condition assessment, repair/refurbishment, reassembly, testing, preservation, and final release.  Ensure quality requirements are understood and consistently applied, nonconformances are controlled, required records are complete, and quality personnel are trained and effective in supporting customer, contractual, and applicable quality-system requirements.

Primary Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities, priorities, workload, and performance of assigned Quality personnel.
  • Provide technical and procedural direction for receiving, in-process, final, dimensional, visual, and documentation-based inspection activities.
  • Ensure inspection and quality hold points are performed and documented in accordance with approved procedures, drawings, specifications, customer requirements, travelers, and work instructions.
  • Verify identification, traceability, configuration control, serial-number or batch/lot controls, and as-found/as-left records are maintained throughout refurbishment activities.
  • Review, initiate, and coordinate nonconformance reports (NCRs); ensure affected items are identified and controlled and that dispositions are implemented only after appropriate authorization.
  • Support root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, risk-based problem solving, and verification of corrective-action effectiveness.
  • Ensure inspection, measuring, and test equipment is suitable, within calibration, protected from damage, and removed from service when requirements are not met.
  • Review inspection/test records and final quality documentation packages for completeness, accuracy, and objective evidence prior to release or customer turnover.
  • Support internal, customer, supplier, and third-party audits; coordinate responses and timely closure of assigned findings and actions.
  • Monitor quality performance indicators, NCR trends, rework, audit findings, customer concerns, and other metrics; escalate adverse trends and recommend improvements.
  • Coach and develop Quality personnel; identify training needs, support qualification activities, and maintain accountability for compliance with QMS and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management, and customers to resolve quality issues while maintaining required independence of quality decisions.
  • Support supplier-quality activities, source inspections, customer witness/hold points, and off-site quality activities as required.
  • Promote a quality culture that encourages early identification of issues, factual decision-making, continuous improvement, and stop-work/escalation when product or service conformity is at risk.
  • Perform other supervisory and quality-related duties as assigned consistent with the needs of the business.

Working Relationships

The Quality Supervisor reports to the Quality Manager and directly supervises assigned Quality personnel.  Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management, Shipping/Receiving, and other Engineered Performance personnel to coordinate priorities and resolve quality issues.  Regular interaction may occur with customers, suppliers, third-party inspectors, auditors, and service providers.  Maintain appropriate independence and objectivity when making quality acceptance or escalation decisions.
