Job Summary
The incumbent is responsible for establishing and maintaining the highest quality standards for our products in accordance with customer and company requirements. Individual will direct, develop, and manage all quality related activities and provide technical direction and training to the quality technicians and manufacturing supervisors. Responsible for ensuring compliance with customer quality requirements and the passing of all customer audits. Responsible for development and execution of Food Safety programs including SQF, HACCP, and administration of Pest Control programs.
Essential Functions
- Champion company Safety and Continuous Improvement cultures.
- Champion compliance with SQF, AIB, YUM, Customer and Food Safety audits as well as SFI paper sourcing audits. Function as facility’s lead SQF Practitioner.
- Develop and implement cost-effective quality systems and techniques consistent with company and customer requirements.
- Establish and implement quality-awareness programs and develop systems to track results.
- Determine trends, causes and effects using statistical process control methods and report results.
- Identifies critical points in the manufacturing process and defines sampling plans.
- Directs non-conformance program including activities related to substandard product disposition, bracketing, etc.
- Develops capability studies, and DOE’s that assist in New Product Development, Material Qualification, and existing product improvements.
- Manage database, create documents, policies, procedures, statistical reports, and complaint logs. Issue letters of compliance/guarantee. Special projects to include management of product hold area, finished goods disposition area, vacation coverage for floor inspectors, customer complaint inspections, assists in product and process capability studies.
- Manage the Grandview Database as it related to Quality Measurements and data collection.
- Manage Robust Pest Control Program.
- Participate in SQF Housekeeping and Food Safety Programs. Provide plant housekeeping support.
Job Qualifications
Required
- Must be a practitioner and champion of Continuous Improvement processes.
- Must be able to work in a team environment with management staff.
- Must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and possess good interpersonal skills.
- Must have the ability to supervise others.
- Must demonstrate willingness to take initiative to ensure production runs efficiently.
- Possess a working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications, preferably Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Should be BPCS proficient
Preferred
- Experience with SQF or an equivalent GFSI compliant food safety auditing system is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with multiple Huhtamaki core technologies preferred.
- An undergraduate degree and a minimum of 4-5 years of related manufacturing supervisory experience in a high-volume industry.
- Post-graduate degree is a plus.
Environment
Employee works in a well-lighted and clean manufacturing environment. Individual will work an average of 45 hours/week with some weekend work. Requires moderate standing (50%), with occasional walking (25%), and occasional sitting (25%). Employee will use various machines (i.e., calculator, computer, fac machine, printer, and telephone). Requires full range of body motion such as twisting, stooping/bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders and stairs. Must wear safety equipment such as: hair/beard net, safety glasses, and earplugs. Employee will travel to other Huhtamaki facilities, seminars, etc. by both ground and air transportation.
