Position Overview

As part of the talented Lowe team, the role of a Quality Manager is to manage activities of workers engaged in inspecting all aspects of our boats. Applying knowledge of quality assurance standards and procedures to drive improvements in products and customer satisfaction. Oversee quality assurance processes, for conformance to regulatory and internal product standards consistently across all production areas. Review reports and confer with quality assurance, production, management, and engineering personnel to solve work-related problems. Performs other duties as described below.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee assigned areas of QA, QE and QC processes
  • Lead and develop a team of hourly and salaried members for continuous career growth
  • Plans and adjusts work priorities to meet daily, weekly, monthly goals and metrics
  • Develop formal quality inspection training requirements
  • Assure inspection/test skill and methods are executed consistently across personnel and processes
  • Analyze processes to identify and communicate improvement opportunities
  • Drive process/quality improvements using formal methodologies
  • Apply Lean Mfg. principles and Six Sigma tools to production and quality processes
  • Sustain product and process controls, act to correct process nonconformance
  • Analyze product warranty data to improve internal processes
  • Review/investigate dealer complaints/warranty issues to improve current control methods
  • Oversee QCIS QC data input and boat tagging process
  • Containment and verification of repairs related to finished goods inventory
  • Participate in cross-functional walkthroughs
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree, relevant industry experience along with certifications may be considered in place of degree
  • Minimum five-years of related work experience in QC/QA related field
  • Formal Six Sigma training
  • Hands on at a shop floor level, working with individuals of the process to determine the “what it is” and “what it should be”
  • Results orientated both quantifiable and quantitative
  • Distinguishing common cause from special cause to tailor problem-solving methods
  • Developing a pull Vs. push approach for quality within an organization
  • Project leadership experience with direct reports, possesses strong leadership, coaching; mentoring experience for leading a quality team
  • Developing strong working relationships with stakeholders
  • Must be well versed in quality methodologies with a practical approach to application
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrate experience performing mathematical and basic statistical calculations and analysis including graphical reporting
  • Ability to manage medium to large scale projects and Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Experience developing process procedures and work instructions
  • Familiar with the following: understanding electronic schematics/drawings, performing inspection.
  • Working knowledge of production assembly processes, six sigma, lean, and kaizen activities, as well as.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical matter in mathematical or diagram form
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, the ability to effectively communicate cross-functionally
  • Understanding of customers’ quality/reliability requirements and product expectations
  • Solid understanding and use of computer basics, and experience with Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • ASQ certifications desired: CQE, CSSGB CSSBB, CMQ/OE or ability to complete within 8 months of hire
  • 3 years Automotive or comparable regulated industry experience preferred
  • Product compliance/liability training experience desired
  • Prior marine experience and/or personal knowledge of boat operation and systems desirable
  • Training of NMMA and ABYC regulations beneficial
  • Experience with gel coat, fiberglass, and assembly desired

The anticipated pay range for this position is $84,500-$123,900 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job- related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
