The Quality Manager is the senior quality leader for our Phoenix manufacturing facility. This role owns the Quality Management System (QMS), leads all site quality functions, and drives continuous improvement across multiple high volume SMT and PCB assembly lines. You will serve as the primary AS9100 process owner, lead audit readiness, and ensure that quality becomes a competitive advantage, not just a compliance requirement.
This is a hands on leadership role for someone who thrives on solving complex problems in real time, building strong cross functional relationships, and elevating quality culture across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Leadership and QMS Ownership
• Lead, maintain, and continuously improve the site’s AS9100 certified Quality Management System.
• Serve as the effectiveness owner for QMS processes, documentation, and compliance.
• Prepare for and host AS9100 audits, customer audits, and site surveys.
• Ensure timely and effective closure of audit findings, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
Operational Quality and Process Control
• Drive defect reduction, escape prevention, and first pass yield improvement across SMT and PCB assembly lines.
• Lead daily problem solving activities on the production floor, including structured RCCA and real time containment.
• Facilitate FRB and MRB activities, ensuring efficient disposition and strong cross functional collaboration.
• Establish and track leading indicators to proactively identify process variability and quality risks.
Supplier and Incoming Quality
• Lead receiving inspection and incoming quality teams, ensuring supplier materials meet requirements.
• Partner with Supply Chain to address supplier nonconformances and drive supplier corrective actions.
• Maintain working knowledge of OASIS and customer specific quality requirements.
Customer Engagement and Communication
• Act as the voice of the customer for all quality related matters.
• Support customer site audits, technical discussions, and issue resolution.
• Communicate complex technical issues clearly to nontechnical stakeholders, drive escalations through the organization when needed, with dual ability to deescalate challenging situations.
Continuous Improvement and Culture Building
• Lead structured continuous improvement initiatives that reduce cost of poor quality (CoPQ).
• Drive site wide adoption of quality principles, embedding quality into everyday decisions.
• Mentor and develop quality inspectors and engineers, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
What Success Looks Like
• Zero major findings in internal and external AS9100 audits.
• Significant reductions in process related defects and customer escapes.
• Strong, data driven CAPA and RCCA processes that prevent recurrence.
• 15 to 25% improvement in first pass yield through targeted process improvements.
• A quality culture that is proactive, collaborative, and respected across the site because it leads by example and drives lasting change
