The Quality Engineer will serve as a well-rounded quality leader supporting product, process, customer, and quality system performance for JLG manufactured construction and agricultural equipment. This role acts as a conduit for the Voice of the Customer (VOC) and partners with cross-functional teams to identify quality risks, resolve issues, and drive sustainable improvements across the product lifecycle.
This position leads quality and process improvement projects, analyzes complex quality and warranty data, reviews customer-related defects, facilitates structured RCCA activities, supports APQP and launch readiness, performs internal audits, and creates or updates quality processes. The ideal candidate is hands-on, data-driven, and capable of balancing strategic quality planning, technical problem solving, project management, and practical execution.
YOUR IMPACT
Lead cross-functional quality and process improvement projects to reduce defects, improve customer satisfaction, strengthen process capability, and achieve Quality Plan goals.
Review customer-related issues, warranty claims, field concerns, defects, Salesforce cases, and internal quality data to identify trends, risks, recurring failure modes, and improvement priorities.
Facilitate structured root cause and corrective action sessions with cross-functional teams using tools such as 8D, 5-Why, fishbone, Pareto analysis, containment planning, and effectiveness verification.
Lead and manage quality improvement initiatives using strong project management discipline, including scope definition, action tracking, stakeholder alignment, timeline management, and verified closure.
Lead or support APQP activities, including quality planning, risk assessment, process flow review, PFMEA support, control plan development, launch readiness, and validation of quality controls.
Analyze complex quality, warranty, field, process, and customer data to identify systemic issues, prioritize actions, and communicate findings through clear reports, dashboards, and recommendations.
Develop and implement effective containment, corrective actions, preventive actions, and long-term improvements for customer, product, process, and supplier-related quality issues.
Create, update, and standardize quality processes, procedures, work instructions, and supporting documentation; provide training and guidance across all sites to drive consistent execution.
Prepare field response plans, including machine population, affected models, failure description, risk assessment, technical solution, containment approach, and recommended communication method.
Review engineering drawings, specifications, change notifications, quality requirements, and product/process documentation to evaluate quality impact and support effective implementation.
Coordinate and execute internal audits of quality systems, manufacturing processes, finished products, corrective actions, and compliance to procedures or standards.
Partner with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Sales, Customer Support, and Customer Representatives to resolve issues, improve processes, and drive sustainable quality performance.
Apply Lean Six Sigma / DMAIC methods to reduce waste, reduce variation, improve process performance, and support continuous improvement.
Maintain accurate quality records, audit results, RCCA documentation, APQP deliverables, procedures, training records, reports, and project files in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Respect and support housekeeping, safety, compliance, and workplace policies across office, field, and production environments.
Travel as required to support customer, supplier, field, manufacturing, audit, training, or business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in quality, Business Management, Data Science, Engineering or related work experience.
Background Manufacturing, Manufacturing Quality, Data Analytics, Customer Support, or heavy machinery.
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS
Experience leading structured RCCA / 8D problem-solving sessions with cross-functional teams.
Experience leading or supporting APQP activities, including process flow, PFMEA, control plans, launch readiness, PPAP, and quality planning.
Experience performing internal quality audits, process audits, product audits, layered process audits, or quality system audits.
Experience creating, updating, standardizing, and training teams on quality processes, procedures, work instructions, and quality system requirements across multiple sites.
Strong experience with complex data analysis, warranty analysis, defect trend analysis, Pareto analysis, process performance analysis, and quality metric reporting.
Experience managing quality or process improvement projects using project plans, action registers, timelines, milestone tracking, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills preferred, along with business and quality systems such as Salesforce, SharePoint, Visio, Mapics/AS400, Reliance, Power BI, Tableau, Minitab, or similar tools.
Advanced training or experience using statistical techniques, quality tools, Lean Six Sigma / DMAIC, 8D, 5-Why, fishbone, FMEA, control plans, mistake-proofing, or other structured continuous improvement methods.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, including views, title blocks, dimensioning, GD&T symbols, specifications, and product/process characteristics.
Experience supporting product launches, significant process changes, program changes, field actions, or customer quality improvement initiatives in heavy equipment, automotive, manufacturing, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, or related industrial environments.

In the office setting, tasks may require extended computer use, sitting, and attending meetings.
Field or floor work may involve walking across various terrains or shop floors, standing, moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), climbing stairs, and exposure to varying temperatures or noise levels.
Must be able to shift focus between detailed cognitive work and occasional physical tasks as needed.

Pay Range:
$64,500.00 - $103,500.00The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
