THE ROLE: Quality Engineer Intern
LOCATION: Waukesha, WI
REPORTS TO: Sr. Director, Operations
POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Exempt
OUR OPPORTUNITY:
The Quality Engineer Intern will support manufacturing quality activities to ensure products meet internal specifications and customer requirements. This role provides hands-on exposure to shop-floor operations, process control, inspections, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform inspection on raw materials, outsourced parts, in-process materials, fabricated parts and finished goods, making sure of conformance to specifications.
- Interpret detailed blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, and routing sheets to determine production standards and tolerance limits.
- Test finished products for paint quality and thickness, welding quality, dimensions, fit, and appearance.
- Conduct and document individual tool calibration and verification per company standards.
- Compile, interpret, and document statistical data from testing processes to either confirm compliance with established quality standards or identify deviations.
- Process non-conformance reports when incorrect material is received.
- Ensure finished product is packaged, marked, tagged and loaded correctly to minimize possible damage during transportation.
- Analyze inspection results and assist in addressing and resolving production problems causing deviations from existing standards.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently pursuing degree in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial or related engineering field.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and specifications.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
- Ability to manage and meet deadlines.
