This Assembly Quality Engineer role is a unique opportunity to help lead the setup, launch, and support of our new refrigeration assembly lines. This position will act as the quality support for that department.


Start-Up Responsibilities & Ongoing Production Responsibilities

Reporting to the Site Quality Manager, the Assembly Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and continually improving the Sub-Zero Group, Inc. Quality System and helping to establish it within the Assembly Department of the Cedar Rapids facility. The successful individual will also facilitate continuous product and process improvements to exceed the expectations of those we service by providing high quality, innovative, value added, luxury appliance products and services.

Quality Systems:

  • Partner with Quality Manager and peers to establish a project plan for implementing quality systems at the facility that supports the overall project schedule.
  • Problem identification, root cause analysis, corrective and preventative action using Statistical Tools as appropriate.
  • Development, maintenance, and review of key performance indicators.
  • Research, recommend, and implement new equipment, designs, gauging and or processes that improve product quality, consistency and performance.

Quality Planning:

  • Review and update the quality system requirements for new or revised products, including review and measurement of key control characteristics (KCC) identification and documentation.
  • Work closely with industrial and manufacturing engineering to develop, qualify and audit new and key processes with data collection.
  • Support trial builds of product throughout the system, gathering feedback for evaluation. Work with dedicated cross-functional or NPD teams to establish quality continuous improvement plans and systems.
  • Analyze failure rates, failure modes, and failure mechanisms to support robust product design.
  • Build a culture that identifies and solves problems related to quality, involving employees at all levels to own it and improve it.
  • Promote a collaborative environment where cross-functional teams align around shared goals and celebrate collective wins.
  • Empower individuals to take initiative, own their work areas, and lead improvement efforts that enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Lead with integrity - modeling ethical decision-making and fostering a culture of trust and accountability.
  • Inspire a high-energy environment where positivity, resilience, and a growth mindset are contagious.

The ideal candidate will have experience in data mining, and data analysis as well as process evaluation and continuous improvement methodology. This position will also require continuous improvement coaching and engagement with production operators, supervisors, and technicians.

This position requires a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and background check, which will be administered after a conditional job offer is extended. Qualifications Education Required Bachelors or better. Experience Required Growth mindset and willingness to quickly learn and adapt in a dynamic environment. Communicates, plans and updates effectively with all levels of management and peers. Intuitive individual with an ability to manage change with proven interpersonal, organization and time management skills. Able to work collaboratively to resolve issues and continually improve results in the areas of safety, quality, delivery and cost. Experienced in Microsoft Office (including SharePoint) and Data Analytics tools (PowerBI, Tableau, SQL, etc.). Solid analytical problem-solver with knowledge of tools (5why, 8D, A3, etc.). Strong understanding of and experience applying advanced statistical methodologies in a manufacturing environment – e.g. ANOVA, regression analysis, six sigma concepts, etc. Experience in a manufacturing or quality engineering function. Preferred Proven track record of project management and effectively managing priorities. Understanding of ISO / IATF / AS QMS standards and experience internal auditing to the standards. Lean manufacturing experience. American Society for Quality (ASQ) – Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), ASQ– Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or other certification strongly desired.
