Job Description: The Quality Assurance Technician shall perform a technical review of repairs accomplished in accordance with technical manual standards for various types of Material Handling Equipment and Shipboard Mobile Support Equipment (MHE/SMSE).

Job Requirements/skill sets:

• Minimum of eight (8) years experience in quality assurance, quality control, or inspection within skilled trades, industrial maintenance, or heavy equipment environments.

• Demonstrated experience inspecting repair, maintenance, fabrication, or overhaul work performed by skilled trade personnel.

• Experience executing industrial safety programs and issuing PPE to skilled trade workers.

• Experience providing over-the-shoulder safety and quality oversight in an industrial or maintenance setting.

• Experience enforcing occupational safety and health regulations and monitoring work practices for compliance.

• Experience maintaining an established quality assurance program focused on identifying and correcting workmanship deficiencies.

• Experience maintaining quality assurance documentation and training records.

• Valid driver’s license with documentation of a clean driving record.

• Execute and oversee industrial safety programs and distribute required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, eye protection, safety footwear, and respiratory protection for applicable shop operations.

• Provide over-the-shoulder safety and quality oversight of skilled trade repair and maintenance activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with approved work packages, applicable technical references, and contract requirements.

• Enforce applicable occupational safety and health regulations; monitor work practices to prevent injury to personnel or damage to property; and ensure all Government-furnished and contractor-owned equipment is maintained in a safe operating condition.

• Witness, document, and approve required inspections, certifications, and functional or load testing associated with maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities.

• Establish, maintain, and execute a Quality Assurance Program focused on identifying and correcting deficiencies in workmanship and service quality prior to performance becoming unsatisfactory; contractor performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan (QASP), when applicable.

• Conduct final inspections of repair, overhaul, fabrication, corrosion control, and finishing work performed by in-house personnel, subcontractors, or vendors at government or off-site facilities prior to final acceptance.

• Perform quality control inspections of workmanship and maintain quality assurance and quality control documentation and training records.

• Verify personnel qualifications, certifications, and licenses required to perform skilled trade work and maintain associated records, including medical certifications and incident documentation, as applicable.

• Maintain technical documentation, manuals, and reference materials in an organized and current condition.

• Conduct safety briefings and communicate facility rules, work practices, and safety requirements to all personnel.

Qualifications:

Education Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.

Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access: U.S. citizenship required. Must be able to meet and maintain eligibility for a Secret Clearance and/or be able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.
