The Backend Process Quality Engineer oversees the final phases of production, including assembly, packaging, and final testing. This role ensures the manufacturing line operates within specified parameters, minimizes defect rates, and drive continuously improves activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the technical lead to investigate quality issues detected post-test.
- Formulate rigorous 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone reports to resolve line deviations and customer returns (RMA), ensuring definitive containment actions are deployed.
- Execute line audits in the back-end finishing area to maintain strict adherence to IATF 16949 (Automotive) or ISO 9001 quality standards.
- Maintain and optimize Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) profiles specifically tailored to handling, laser marking, baking, tape-and-reel, packing and shipping.
- Manage risk evaluations and quality verifications for backend line alterations involving Man, Machine, Material, or Method.
- Possess at least bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or an equivalent technical discipline.
- Required skill(s): 8D report writing.
- Knowledge in QC core tools, ISO 9001, IATF16949 Quality Management system, PPAP, APQP, MSA, FMEA and control plan is essential.
- 2–5+ years of experience in electronics assembly, semiconductor backend processing, or advanced packaging.
- Self-motivated and self-discipline.
- Proficiency communication skills and able to work independently and as a team player as well as interact with people at all levels.
