The QA Analyst coordinates the Quality Assurance activities with either new systems or changes to existing systems. He/She develops test plans that cover necessary scenarios and achieve overall QA strategies for the business system owner, executes testing, and communicates issues found within an established procedural framework to management. The incumbent has latitude to determine best approaches and methods for test plans and prioritization. An ideal candidate will be someone who has done extensive database development (data manipulation, stored procedures, modeling, data warehouse, reporting) and has excellent SQL skills to retrieve and analyze complex and high volume data sets to draw insights.

Tasks/Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Applies creativity and testing expertise to designs and develop the project test plan using available project documentation.

  • Develops detailed testing timelines by providing estimates for planning and execution.

  • Manages QA schedules. Prioritizes and adjusts QA tasks and schedules as needed.

  • Primary QA contact for the program manager and developers.

  • Determines the scope of testing needed. Identifies risks and proposes solutions.

Analysis

  • Reviews the general controls and advises the Program Manager on any weaknesses in the process.

  • Controls the test environment by ensuring that all machines are properly updated.

  • Ensures that BI reports and dashboards operate according to the functional and technical specifications and produce accurate results

  • Communicates with clients and project teams on problem resolution, design issues and implementations.

Defect Management

  • Manages and reviews defects for program. Performs in depth analysis of problems and communicates results in a concise and informative manner as needed.

Documentation

  • Designs, develops and maintains Test Strategy and Test Plan documentation for program and projects.

  • Provides regular status updates in a timely manner to Program Manager

Required Skills/Experience

  • Advanced, in depth knowledge of quality assurance testing concepts, methods and practices in an information technology systems development environment.

  • Good understanding of principals and practices associated with Agile software development.

  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts using Playwright for web application testing, including functional, regression, and end-to-end test scenarios.

  • Knowledge of test automation frameworks, CI/CD integration, and automated testing best practices within Agile software development environments.

  • Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and experience troubleshooting, analyzing, and maintaining automated test suites to improve test coverage, efficiency, and overall software quality.

  • Good understanding of Data Analytics and Enterprise Reporting functions and processes

  • Advanced knowledge of SQL Server, Query Language, and ability to use Query Tools to retrieve and profile complex data from heterogenous databases

  • Experience with quality assurance in data domain initiatives

  • Datawarehouse and Report Testing experience.

  • Effective communications skills to deal with entire project team.

  • Strong problems solving, analytical & decision making skills.

  • Should be able to work independently, and strive to learn new QA tools, technologies and methodologies

  • Experience in Insurance/Reinsurance domains will be an added bonus

Education

  • Required knowledge & skills would typically be acquired through a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field

  • Experienced QA with at least 3-5 years in software and data testing.
