What is the plot?
GPE - Discovery Engineering department is the Content Management and Discovery System for video streaming services such as Peacock, SkyShowtime, Showmax, and NowTV. Between these propositions, we span multiple continents, with tens of millions of customers. Whether you’re an editorial team trying to merchandise our content and set up the best experience for customers, personalisation teams providing individual experiences for customers or you’re a customer just trying to browse, search or save the content you’re watching, we’re here to take care of what’s needed.
What role will you play?
As an Automation Engineer, you’ll be knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate about technology. You’ll collaborate with smart, motivated colleagues and work within agile methodologies to help deliver high-quality software that adds value to Sky’s products and services.
Your daily tasks:
Collaborate with technical analysts, product owners, and developers to ensure acceptance criteria are met through comprehensive testing strategies.
Define, execute, and coordinate integration tests for the platform, ensuring seamless integration and functionality across various components.
Act as a quality gate-keeper in the Continuous Delivery pipeline, ensuring that only production-ready software is released.
Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end automated tests using Java and frameworks such as Selenium, WebDriver, JUnit, TestNG, or Cucumber
Serve as the point of contact for external teams/projects that interact with your team’s systems, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
Investigate, troubleshoot, and perform detailed root cause analysis of issues that may occur in live systems, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on users.
Provide regular updates on progress, blockers, and test results to align with distributed team workflows.
What skills do you need to play your role well?
Proficiency in Java: In-depth knowledge and experience with the Selenium WebDriver, JUnit, TestNG, or Cucumber testing framework.
Java: Strong experience of Java programming language and related tools.
Automated testing concepts: Solid understanding of automated testing methodologies, frameworks, and tools.
SDLC & Agile: Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
Version control: Experience with version control systems like Git.
Communication and collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Analytical and problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Database Skills: Experience with SQL for data validation.
CI/CD: Familiarity with integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
Media Experience: Exposure to media platforms testing streaming or content delivery systems is nice to have.
ISTQB certification is nice to have.
