Position Overview

We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer to support quality assurance for business applications and data solutions used in regulated aerospace environments. This role combines hands-on regression testing with the continued expansion of automated test coverage. You will confirm that software and data changes meet requirements, validate results using SQL, and maintain clear, repeatable test documentation.

You will partner with developers, business analysts, subject matter experts, and program teams to understand proposed changes, define risk-based test coverage, record test cases and evidence in Zephyr, and communicate results and defects. The team expects to expand automation over time, including the potential migration of suitable test cases to Tricentis Tosca.

Key Responsibilities

•  Plan and execute manual regression, functional, integration, and change-request testing while identifying opportunities to automate repeatable test coverage.

•  Review requirements and development changes to identify affected workflows, data structures, business rules, integrations, and downstream dependencies.

•  Create and maintain clear test cases, test steps, expected results, and supporting evidence in Zephyr, linking coverage to the applicable work item or change.

•  Write and run SQL queries to validate data transformations, expected values, allowed-value lists, completeness, and structural requirements.

•  Validate SQL Server script changes in the appropriate test environment and, when assigned and approved, update scripts supporting authorized business rules or data corrections.

•  Reproduce, document, and track defects, providing concise steps, supporting data, and expected-versus-actual results to development teams.

•  Review test outcomes, investigate unexpected results, and support root-cause analysis and corrective-action activities.

•  Communicate testing progress, risks, blockers, defects, and quality metrics to appropriate leaders and stakeholders.

•  Improve test plans, documentation, and automation practices, including preparing suitable Zephyr cases for future automation in Tosca.

•  Work within an Agile development lifecycle using Jira or the designated work-tracking system and follow established development and quality processes.

•  Support testing at local customer sites when required.

Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

•  At least three years of experience in software quality assurance, regression testing, application testing, or a closely related discipline.

•  Experience writing, maintaining, and executing test cases and documenting test results and defects.

•  Working knowledge of SQL sufficient to query and validate application or database results.

•  Ability to analyze requirements and software changes, identify meaningful test coverage, and investigate unexpected results.

•  Familiarity with Agile development practices and work-tracking tools such as Jira.

•  Experience with a test case management tool.

•  Strong attention to detail, organization, analytical thinking, and written and verbal communication skills.

•  Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, analysts, subject matter experts, and customers in a changing environment.

•  Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in Glastonbury, Connecticut, and travel to a local customer site as required.

•  Ability to pass required background investigation and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

•  Experience testing data warehouses, ETL processes, reports, or database-driven business applications.

•  Experience with automated testing tools; Tricentis Tosca experience is preferred.

•  Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, stored procedures, data validation, or data quality checks.

•  Experience using Zephyr or a comparable test case management platform.

•  Experience creating or maintaining test documentation, training materials, or quality records.

•  Experience in aerospace, aviation maintenance, or another regulated industry.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid position based in Glastonbury, Connecticut. The role follows a normal business schedule and may require work at a local customer site. The position requires careful handling of export-controlled information and consistent adherence to customer, security, development, and quality procedures.
