Description

What we are looking for:

Nova’s Dimensional Metrology Division (DMD) R&D group is seeking a Temporary Python Developer.

The group focuses on development of emerging technologies and conducting concept and feasibility studies, covering experimental, theoretical, and algorithmic aspects.

Role Responsibilities

What will you be doing:

  • Develop, test, and maintain Python utilities to support metrology system calibration.
  • Implement automated, cross-system diagnostic tests to evaluate accuracy and stability of metrology systems.
  • Lead the implementation and deployment of algorithm-driven and HW control software solutions as part of R&D for emerging technologies.
  • Transform research into innovative, user-ready products, driving them from concept to launch.
  • Ensure scalability, performance, and adherence to modern development practices.
Requirements
  • B.Sc. in an engineering or scientific discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Optical Engineering)
  • Hands-on experience developing Python software for laboratory equipment control, automation, or measurement systems
  • Experience in data acquisition, analysis, and experimental result processing
  • Experience writing production-quality code (not just scripts or prototypes)
  • Proficient understanding of:
  • Code structure and modular design (clear separation of logic, reusable components)
  • Readable and maintainable code (naming conventions, clarity, simplicity)
  • Documentation (docstrings, usage instructions, clear explanations for future users)
  • Error handling and robustness (graceful failure, logging, edge-case handling)
  • Experience working in a shared codebase (version control, code reviews, collaboration with other developers)
  • Ability to write code that others can easily understand, maintain, and extend over time
  • Candidates must have at least 1year of real-world experience writing structured, maintainable Python code, beyond personal or ad-hoc scripting
