Overview  

The Python Backend Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services and orchestration layers that power ingestion, search, and AI-enabled workflows across HYCU platforms. 

We are building a next-generation search-first, AI-assisted intelligence platform designed for enterprise-scale environments. Our backend systems power ingestion, indexing, orchestration, and AI-driven workflows.  

Enterprise-grade correctness, performance, and scalability are foundational to our platform. Our backend engineering team builds resilient, high-performance services that enable reliable data processing and coordinated AI interactions at scale. 

Location:   

• Bangalore, India (Hybrid; 3 days onsite/2 days remote)  
   

What You’ll Do:  

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python  

• Build reliable ingestion and processing workflows that support search and AI systems 

• Implement orchestration logic that coordinates retrieval, AI inference, and downstream services 

• Design APIs and service layers that enable agent-driven and AI-assisted workflows 

• Ensure system reliability through proper handling of retries, idempotency, and failure recovery 

• Optimize service performance, scalability, and resource utilization 

• Collaborate with AI, search, and data teams to integrate AI orchestration into production systems 

• Build and operate backend services that support ingestion, indexing, and AI workflows 

• Design orchestration layers that coordinate multi-step AI and search interactions 

• Implement scalable and fault-tolerant service patterns 

• Monitor service performance and proactively resolve reliability or latency issues 

• Collaborate with AI engineers to ensure safe, efficient AI task execution 

• Continuously improve backend architecture for efficiency and resilience 

What We’re Looking For:  

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field 

• 3–5 years of experience in backend engineering role 

• Experience working on workflow-driven or AI-enabled systems is preferred  

• Exposure to enterprise-scale SaaS systems is a plus 

• Strong experience developing backend services using Python 

• Experience designing production-grade APIs and distributed systems 

• Experience implementing workflow orchestration or asynchronous processing patterns 

• Familiarity with event-driven systems and message queues 

• Understanding of reliability patterns (timeouts, retries, idempotency) 

• Exposure to AI/LLM integrations or AI workflow orchestration is preferred 

• Experience with cloud platforms and containerized deployments 

• Exposure to search platforms such as OpenSearch or Elasticsearch is a plus
