Public Affairs Manager Europe
Position : Based in Brussels
The Public Affairs Manager Europe, reporting to the Associate Director Public Affairs Europe, plays a pivotal role in shaping Boston Scientific’s external positioning and advancing the execution of its policy and advocacy agenda at the EU level and, where relevant, at the international level. The role contributes to shaping a favorable policy and regulatory environment that expands patient access to Boston Scientific therapies.
This position supports the development and delivery of public affairs strategies, influencing policy outcomes that enable access to innovative medical technologies and align with business priorities.
The role requires a proactive and strategic professional with a strong understanding of health policy and related policy areas. The successful candidate will monitor and assess policy developments, anticipate potential impacts, and translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations that support business objectives.
The individual will build and manage relationships with key stakeholders across EU institutions, trade associations, and patient organizations to advance priority policy initiatives. The person will work with internal teams and drive policy engagement across key areas, including market access, regulatory frameworks, digital and environmental policy, reimbursement, ensuring Boston Scientific’s perspectives are effectively represented.
Core Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyze, and interpret EU legislative and regulatory developments impacting the medical device sector.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with European policymakers, industry associations, patient associations and relevant external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and execution of BSC public affairs strategies to influence EU policy in alignment with company objectives.
- Manage the governance of BSC engagement with MedTech Europe and support the development of BSC’s positioning in MedTech.
- Ensure effective representation of Boston Scientific positions in industry forums and consultations.
- Coordinate and align internal stakeholders across functions (e.g., HEMA, Regulatory Affairs, Government Affairs, Corporate Communication, Business) to ensure consistent messaging and strategy execution, anticipate policy trends and proactively shape advocacy initiatives.
- Prepare briefing materials, position papers, and policy communications for internal and external use.
- Support senior leadership engagement with EU stakeholders, including preparation for high-level meetings.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies related to public affairs and lobbying activities.
- Engage independently with EU institutions, Trade Associations, patient groups, and other key decision-makers.
- Support PA team and PA activities reporting.
Qualifications/Skills
- Master’s degree with several years of experience in Public Affairs, public policy with a Trade Association, Life Science company, an Agency, or other similar group.
- Understand MedTech business models and EU policy challenges for Boston Scientific in EU Member States.
- Strong understanding of EU legislative processes and institutions.
- Experience in the healthcare or medical device sector strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to influence policy and build stakeholder relationships in Brussels.
- Strategic thinking with a hands-on, pragmatic approach.
- Strong player in cross-functional collaboration and alignment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, additional EU languages are an asset.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
