Psychiatrist -Evaluation Service 3x/weekday Hours
St. Vincent's Hospital Westchester, a division of Saint Joseph's Medical Center, has a part-time position for a BC/BE psychiatrist in the Evaluation and Referral Service. In the Evaluation and Referral Service, the psychiatrist will perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations on walk-in and psychiatric emergency clients and transfers from other psychiatric emergency rooms in the area and will collaborate with and following up on cases started by Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and social workers in the evaluation service. The physician should feel comfortable with assessing safety, the assignment of inpatient vs. outpatient psychiatric and/or substance abuse services, and the ability to write initial orders including medications as appropriate.
Faculty appointment at New York Medical College is possible if interested in teaching in our newly accredited psychiatry residency training program. Skills Required
- Board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry (BC/BE)
- Ability to perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for walk-in and psychiatric emergency patients
- Ability to assess safety and determine inpatient versus outpatient or substance abuse placement
- Ability to write initial orders including prescribing medications as appropriate
- Willingness to work three daytime shifts per week (22.5 hours)
- Interest in faculty appointment/teaching in psychiatry residency program (optional)
