What you’ll be doing

• May be required to cover shifts on the floor.
• Other duties, as assigned.
• Participates in the Nursing Behavioral Management interventions as outlined in the plan of care.
• Assist residents with mobility, feeding, bathing, toileting and personal grooming.
• Encourage resident participation in activities and programs.
• Provide emotional and social support to residents and families.

What you’ll bring

• Current Personal Support Worker Certificate.
• Proficient computer skills, ability to track/trend information and complete reporting templates as required – i.e. Word, Excel.
• Ability to collaborate with Care partners, Mobile Response, Families, Persons Served and Staff.
• Proficient use of Point Click Care.
• Flexible schedule.
• Preference will be given to applicants with U-First training, GPA, Montessori and additional training in caring for people with dementia and challenging expressions.
• Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) and Positive Approach to Care (PAC) certification an asset.
• Able to perform physical tasks and duties, including frequent bending, reaching and lifting.
• Compassion, professionalism, and respect.
• Understands and upholds all rules and requirements under applicable legislation including, but not limited to, the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Ontario Labour Relations Act, Ontario Health and Safety Act, Fixing Long Term Care Homes Act.
• Abides by all Home policies and procedures.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English effectively.
• Provide escort services for residents as required.
• Demonstrated extensive knowledge and skill working with individuals with various types of dementia, delirium, mental health, addictions, other neurological conditions and those who experience an acute behavioral change.
• Demonstrated commitment to the goals and principles of the Behavioral Supports Ontario (BSO) program.
