Sr. Project Manager, Gross Margin Improvement GMI) Operations/QA

Business Support Full time Internal / External

Job available in 2 locations (Plymouth, MN and/or Santa Clara, CA)

WHAT YOU'LL DO

This role is responsible for project management, initiation and oversight of Operations/QA projects related to Gross Margin Improvement (GMI) program for the Structural Heart Division. The role owner will influence margin improvement initiatives while collaborating with Operations and QA leadership to drive and achieve targeted margin goals. The scope will include both long-term planning and roadmap development, as well as short-term execution of critical projects and programs. This position reports to the Director of Gross Margin Improvement for Structural Heart.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive Gross Margin Improvement (GMI) program throughout Structural Heart Operations/QA through the ideation, validation, and project management of direct and indirect cost reduction initiatives.
  • Deliver annual Gross Margin Improvement financial targets for SH Operations/QA.
  • Interacts with Operations/QA senior management and leadership team requiring influence, resource allocation and project prioritization.
  • Contributes to business strategy development and operational execution of approved business plans.
  • Works to establish and maintain a system for quantifying project benefits to support and facilitate objective project approval decisions.
  • Sets and resets project/program process procedures, timelines, and priorities with appropriate management approval.
  • Oversees the distribution of project portfolio/program information to management, directors, and other key personnel.
  • Establishes project procedures, rules, and guidelines; approves exceptions and modifications within own area of responsibility.
  • Analyzes the impact of changes in existing projects or addition of new projects and identifies strategies for accomplishing all desired projects, identifies project interrelationships that affect priority, and resources allocation decisions.
  • Estimates and verifies financial benefits from improvement projects.
  • Facilitates the identification, selection, planning, resource allocation, prioritization and execution of projects that support the business.
  • Supports decisions and prioritization conclusions by leadership team by providing data, inputs, analysis, and facilitative assistance.
  • Promotes the development and diffusion of project management best practices throughout the organization.
  • Maintains effective communication with management, providing awareness of critical issues and action plans for resolution of issues.
  • Mentor/train key stakeholders in the use and practice of continuous improvement methodologies and tools. (Lean, value stream mapping, six-sigma, Kaizen).


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU'LL BRING

  • Minimum 5+ years in a technical or business discipline
  • 5+ years of project management experience, including successful oversight of complex projects or programs; Certification or equivalent working knowledge of improvement tools and methodologies - Lean/Six Sigma; Black Belt preferred. Project Management Certification is desirable.
  • Thorough understanding of budgeting, project management, and resource management.
  • Capable of developing solutions to complex problems.
  • Extensive knowledge of project management tools and methodologies, experience using project management and business management computer software.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Strong negotiation, facilitation and influencing skills; ability to create and participate in an open environment where conflicts regarding priorities and funding decision can be aired and resolved objectively.
  • Ability to express complex concepts both verbally and in writing to diverse groups of people.
  • Results oriented with long term focus.
  • Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with management at all levels.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Facilitates translation of portfolio/program prioritization decisions into planning & execution of projects. Distributes project/portfolio information to all key personnel.
  • Ability to instill trust, motivate and work with other people.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for FDA regulated environment. Experience in operations management and knowledge of cost accounting/financial reporting systems.
