Job Description
The IT Scrum Master is a servant leader who enables teams to self-organize, self-manage, and deliver via effective Lean-Agile practices. The Scrum Master supports and enforces the Scrum process and other rules that the team as agreed. The Scrum Master also helps the team coordinate with other teams on the Agile Release Train (ART) and communicates status to management as needed.
Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility. Update agile tracking systems to provide transparency on Product & Sprint Backlogs.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
Minimum: 115,000
Maximum: 230,000
Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience working in an IT delivery environment.
3+ years of experience serving in the role of change agent contributing to the development of agile based standards, tools, and best practices in a clearly documented form.
3+ years of experience organizing and facilitating daily stand-up meetings, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos, and other agile ceremonies.
3+ years of experience tracking and communicating team performance and sprint/release progress
Preferred Qualifications
Scrum Master Certification thru Scrum Alliance or SAFe Scaled Agile.• Manage and optimize the flow of value through the Agile Release Train (ART) using prescribed tools and other information radiators.• Exhibit Lean-Agile leadership by exhibiting the behaviors of a Lean-Agile Leader with a Lean-Agile mindset. Help the team embrace SAFe Core Values, adopt, and apply SAFe principles, and implement SAFe practices.• Support the Product Owner by assisting with managing the backlog and guiding the team while facilitating a healthy team dynamic with respect to priorities and scope.• Serve as Scrum Master for 1 or 2 teams across the program as required.• Support Team Rules by reinforcing them along with any other process rules the team has agreed.• Drive team alignment with annual calendar for iterations and Program Increments (PIs)• Facilitate the team's progress toward team goals by acting as a facilitator and challenging the old norms of development to improve performance in the areas of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity. This will ensure the team remains focused on daily and iteration goals in the context of the current Program Increment (PI) objectives.• Lead the team's efforts in relentless improvement by helping them to improve and take responsibility for their actions; also, by facilitating the retrospective. By teaching problem-solving techniques and helping the team become better problem-solvers for themselves.• Eliminate impediments for issues that are beyond the team's authority or may require support from other teams. The Scrum Master actively addresses these issues so that the team can remain focused on achieving the objectives of the Iteration.• Build a high-performing team by giving focus to improving team dynamics and performance. This involves helping the team manage interpersonal conflicts, challenges, and opportunities for growth.• Provide representation during the Scrum of Scrum (SoS) meetings and pass information from that meeting back to the teams as appropriate.• Protect the Innovation and Planning (IP) iteration by keeping the teams focused on a dedicated investment of time on innovation and exploration.• Facilitate preparation and readiness for ART events by assisting the team in preparation activities including PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect and Adapt.• Support estimating by guiding the team with establishing normalized estimated and helping the team understand how to estimate Features and Capabilities.• Help manage risks and cross-term dependencies.• Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks and performance concerns.• Encourage collaboration between teams and shared service or operations team members.• Serve as a change agent capable of coaching and working with teams to adopt SAFe processes and mindsets.• Demonstrate a passion for continuous learning and contribute to Communities of Practice.• Effective communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be comfortable communicating with development teams, Product Owners, Product Management, and Senior Management.
