Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a full-time, Project Manager with demonstrated experience managing a large-scale project in a consulting environment. To be successful in this role, this individual must use strategic communications consulting, research and storytelling to advance the goals and objectives of each campaign. The Project Manager must be able to lead, manager and execute projects to ensure the client's mission and goals are met on time and within budget. To be successful, the Project Manager must be a problem-solver, work on tight deadlines, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and pay close attention to details. Candidates must also have strong customer interaction skills, a deep understanding of communications, marketing and digital media best practices.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, proactive problem-solver and action-oriented team player with previous experience translating complex information into plain language. He/she must be committed to providing superior service, poised in a fast-paced environment and have a positive and flexible attitude.

This mid-level, full-time position is currently fully remote. However, the Project Manager may be expected to travel to Washington, D.C. or other locations in the United States for meetings, events and trainings.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead, plan, manage, execute and close out projects in support of the client's mission.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Project Management Plan, Communications Plan, Marketing Plan, Implementation Plan, Quality Assurance Plan, Risk Management Plan, Integrated Master Schedule, and Work Breakdown Structure.
  • Ensure all project tasks are completed on time, on budget and within scope of the contract.
  • Manage all client relationships and facilitate project briefings to key stakeholders, including senior executives in the government.
  • Review all products developed by the team to ensure they meet client and contractual quality requirements.
  • Identify and resolve risks and conflicts quickly and effectively.
  • Translate complex messaging into plain language to ensure materials are easy to read, understand and use.
  • Gather, analyze, fact check and interpret data from various sources.
  • Plan, generate and deliver client-ready materials for stakeholders, including client leadership.
  • Write, review and edit content in compliance with AP style and other federal content guidelines.



Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of experience leading large-scale communications campaigns
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience supporting large Cabinet-level federal agencies is ideal.
  • Ability to work onsite in Washington, D.C. (or other locations in the United States) as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

  • Strong time management, creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings.
