Mission of the Position
We are looking for talented team members to be a part of a dynamic team looking to push boundaries, innovate, and are passionate about being a part of the transformation from traditional powertrains to eMobility.
The Project Manager, Electrification Engineering is responsible for the project management of a number of varying products for the North American Electrification Engineering team. The project manager will oversee projects from concept through production and will support the team throughout the project planning lifecycle. They will work closely with the North American Driveline Systems Product Engineering team and the European eDS Product Engineering team to ensure collaboration and planning for projects are carefully executed. This role requires strong analytical and technical abilities and demonstrated fast, but carefully thought-out results. Attention to detail, strong leadership, and control of the work process from beginning to end is necessary .
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning

  • Identify the project's needs and constraints and coordinate the generation of the eProject Plan (schedule, resources, cost, quality, scope, premises, risk). Coordinate and define scope and targets within eQuote.
  • Coordinate the definition of the engineering strategy of the assigned projects.
  • Synchronize milestones and work packages on system level.
  • Freeze eProject plan until moving to Project Management Execution Phase and get the eProject assignment. Confirm that frozen eProject plan and budget is in accordance with the approved engineering budget in the eProject assignment.


Project Management Execution

  • Coordinate eTeams, integrate and perform the activities of the project in accordance with the eProject plan.
  • Identify gaps from the eProject plan, lead open issues and escalate during reporting if necessary.
  • Provide GPMS project management deliverables according to program gate schedule, coordinate availability of all engineering GPMS deliverables within eTeams.
  • Perform project marketing (achieve satisfaction with / acceptance of project results at project sponsor, customer, and project team).


Requirements Management & Change Management

  • Coordinate and support the gathering, processing and tracking of evolving customer needs and requirements throughout the life of the product as to establish a requirements baseline that serves as the basis for defining the needed work products.
  • Ensure that internal and external change requests are managed, tracked and controlled.


Concern Management

  • Ensure that all discovered problems are identified, analyzed, managed and controlled to resolution within the defined concern management system.
  • Regular monitoring and reporting of concern status and stringent implementation of concern status in system releases.


Risk Management

  • Coordinate risk identification and risk evaluation/analysis as well as definition, planning and execution of these items.
  • Regular monitoring and reporting of identified risk items.


Test Management

  • Support the process of test plan definition, review and update in close cooperation with engineering departments, the customer and external partners such as suppliers.
  • Coordinate procurement- and system releases (considering/including necessary test results from customers and suppliers).


Project Completion

  • Ensure efficient closure of the series development project and transfer of necessary activities to serial production support.
  • Coordinate finalization of project documentation (including lessons learned documentation).


Serial Production Support

  • Planning and execution of the project throughout the serial production phase.
  • Coordinate the design change request quoting and execution process, ensure proper planning of the serial support phase within easyQC monitor.


Magna Standards

  • Practice and maintain integrity while following Magna's Charter and Constitution.
  • Follow Magna's Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.
  • Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (IATF).
  • Drive the development of new technologies to improve quality, efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures to ensure duties of self are performed in a safe manner.
  • Health & Safety responsibilities:
    • Understand applicable Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures in the workplace.
    • Report unsafe conditions immediately.
    • Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses, property damage immediately.
    • Follow safety rules.
    • Comply with requirements for the use or operation of machines or equipment.
    • Comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

  • Develop and maintain a responsive and cooperative working relationship with internal and external customers.
  • Treat everyone with dignity, trust and respect.
  • Complete additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 5 (five) years of experience in Project Management with experience leading cross functional teams from concept through production.
  • Strong product planning, development, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as teamwork skills.
  • Strong / proven technical understanding of electrified products including eMotors, Inverters, S/W & Control.
  • Proven ability to interface and drive collaboration with cross functional team members, senior leadership, and within customers and supplier organizations on a global scale strongly preferred.


Work Environment
10% travel required.
While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
