The ITS (Information Technology and Services) PMO Director is responsible for the overall technology project and portfolio management function and team; providing leadership, coordination, strategic direction, and management of all ITS PMO processes, people and functions. As head of this critical function you’ll have the opportunity to drive and influence the delivery of technology projects that directly impact and enable all Dropbox employees and business functions. In this role you will work with a broad group of business, product and technology leaders to ensure prioritization and successful delivery of high impact initiatives across our corporate (non-engineering) business units.

 

The most successful candidate will prioritize impact without compromising high governance and security standards that protect Dropbox. You are passionate about the development of talent and effectively partner with your team and leadership to develop crystal clear communication plans appropriate for all levels of the organization. You’ll be responsible for developing and reporting on KPIs for the PMO, and setting the direction, pace, and targets for the team to pursue improvements in our ITS project delivery.

Responsibilities

ITS Project, Program and Portfolio Management - Your focus in this role is to 1) drive agility and consistency in the way we plan, resource and deliver our work, 2) create visibility and transparency on what we are working on and why, 3) provide leadership and development for a remote and distributed team of Technical Project Managers and 4) develop and communicate KPI’s to measure the success of PMO processes and delivery. This role will lead the breadth of work efforts across strategic initiatives, projects, and programs. This role is accountable for organization wide communication of the active portfolio and the intake, demand and prioritization process. For strategic initiatives, you will be the primary owner in preparing and delivering key partner meeting materials as well as ITS QBRs. You will lead a talented team of technical project managers and will collaborate closely with key stakeholders across Dropbox to create a seamless PMO capability for Dropboxers.

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships across Dropbox to understand and anticipate the needs and requirements of ITS services and ensure the service portfolio evolves in line with company goals and objectives.
  • Partner with Finance to ensure consistent visibility into budgets, and how they are tracked.
  • Develop, coach, and grow a talented and diverse remote team in a Virtual First environment, and be an advocate for them.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in technology with 7+ years of leadership responsibility for PMO
  • Experience in establishing a strategy, framework and best practices for PMO
  • History of successfully driving adoption of a portfolio and demand planning solution (i.e. Jira, Servicenow), enabling executive and delivery team dashboards and reporting
  • Experience with one or more project management methodologies; successful use of Agile “hybrid” in multiple environments and portfolio delivery
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills
  • Excellent track record of building relationships, influencing and negotiating competing priorities among business partners
  • Is hands-on, driven, strategic, accountable, collaborative, hard-working, and productive
  • Comfortable (or experienced) working with and leading distributed teams
