Project/Program Manager

Job Description

About the Role: Project/Program Manager

Brooks Automation is a progressive and rapidly evolving technology leader delivering automation solutions to the dynamic and expanding semiconductor sector. The organization fosters a culture rooted in innovation and collaboration, motivating employees to champion new ideas and work collectively towards achieving greater success.

The organization is seeking a highly capable Program Manager to join its transformative team within the Atmospheric Solutions Program Excellence division. The selected candidate will be responsible for directing initial production and customized designs for a new semiconductor automation platform, serving multiple global and Taiwan-based clients. Duties include providing exemplary leadership to cross-functional teams, ensuring successful technology transitions, and maintaining the highest standards of quality within a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Primary Responsibility: The Program Manager is entrusted with the oversight of product development programs or projects, facilitating cross-functional teams through all phases of the design process and culminating in delivery to external clients. The incumbent coordinates interdepartmental activities, delegates and supervises the work of systems analysis and program personnel, and provides necessary technical guidance and support. Although direct accountability for product development is not inherent to this role, overarching responsibility for product, program, or project management and personnel development is required to ensure optimal operational performance. Demonstrated people-management expertise is essential, particularly in a matrix organizational structure with remote teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the execution of strategic programs from inception to completion, ensuring deliverables are met on schedule, within specified parameters, and at the designated cost; programs may encompass new product development, product line extensions, and customizations.
  • Manage risk mitigation strategies and oversee change management processes for assigned programs.
  • Guide cross-functional teams to achieve unified objectives and facilitate swift, informed decision-making in collaboration with partners from engineering, product management, operations, quality, and service divisions.
  • Communicate program status to stakeholders, ensuring goals are met and risks are addressed promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum five years of program management experience, focused on new product development.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry-standard program management methodologies, including phase gate development processes, with the ability to advocate best practices.
  • Advanced skills in Smartsheet and MS Project, especially in resource allocation and leveling.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing indirect reports and project teams across multiple initiatives.
  • Proven track record of achieving objectives, inspiring action, and communicating effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Recognized leadership and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills, with the ability to prepare project reports and presentations.
