About the opportunity 

The Project Officer provides coordination and delivery on projects specific to their language. Working closely with the project team, the role will assist in implementing project activities and coordinating stakeholder engagement activities. 

Reporting to the Director of SICLE the project officer works collaboratively under the supervision of the project leadership team and will liaise with industry stakeholders and external partners to support project implementations in their language.

SICLE is seeking project officers who are fluent in the following languages, Arabic, Bengali, Filipino, Gujerati, Indonesian, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Malayalam, Punjabi, Sinhalese, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Urdu, Vietnamese. Please specify the language you are applying for in your cover letter.

 Key responsibilities for this role: 

  • assist in creating and quality assuring educational resources in language for community language teachers

  • coordinate community language network meetings in language

  • deliver ad hoc workshops for community language schools and teachers in language

  • write, administer and mark exams for your language (tertiary qualifications of the language required)

  • undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required

About you

Essential: Fluency in one or more of the following languages: Arabic, Bengali, Filipino, Gujerati, Indonesian, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Malayalam, Punjabi, Sinhalese, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Urdu, Vietnamese

Desirable: understanding of community languages education in NSW

  • tertiary qualifications and/or relevant work experience, in a relevant field.

  • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work.

  • experience managing a diverse group of key internal/external stakeholders

  • experience delivering workshops and training to a range of stakeholder groups

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.  This role requires valid work rights for Australia.
