Westwood Professional Services, Inc.

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is looking for a driven civil engineer who wants to own their projects and build a team. You'll lead the design and delivery of municipal infrastructure (roadway, water, sewer and drainage) for North Texas cities.

This role is for an engineer who knows AutoCAD Civil 3D inside and out and is ready to lead. You'll run a production team of 3–4 engineers and designers, teach them how to build great plans, and put your PE stamp on the work. You'll have the stability of an established project pipeline and real support as you grow your leadership and client skills.

You'll work on-site from our Frisco or Dallas office, both energetic, collaborative places to work. Expect occasional travel to project sites, client meetings and other Westwood offices.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects from start to finish
  • Manage 2–10 concurrent municipal projects, from scoping through design (typically a year or more) and construction administration
  • Set scope, schedule and budget, and lead the team so projects finish on time and on budget
  • Stay hands-on in design and guide Civil 3D production; resolve design conflicts and field construction issues
  • Seal plans and own QA/QC
  • Support bidding, review submittals and RFIs, and help get projects built right
  • Build and develop your team
  • Lead, train and mentor 3–4 production staff and EITs, with a focus on Civil 3D plan production
  • Set goals, give feedback and evaluate performance
  • Coordinate resources with other project managers, offices and principals
  • Grow client relationships and the business
  • Serve as the primary contact for city clients and represent Westwood in agency meetings (we'll help you build these skills)
  • Write proposals and scopes of work; take part in interviews
  • Manage monthly invoicing, project budgets and metrics such as utilization, backlog, work in process and accounts receivable
  • Negotiate contract amendments for changes in scope and fee

Required Skills:

  • Current, hands-on plan production experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Confident across roadway, water, sewer and drainage design
  • Ability to train and guide EITs and junior staff
  • Strong ownership of project budgets, schedules and quality
  • Clear verbal and written communication; proficient in Microsoft Office

Required Experience:

  • BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas, or able to obtain Texas licensure by comity within 6 months of hire
  • 6+ years of civil design experience, including 2+ years as a licensed PE
  • Consulting or engineering firm experience delivering municipal infrastructure projects
  • Experience guiding, training or reviewing the work of EITs or junior staff

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Project management experience, or a strong assistant PM ready to lead a team
  • Experience with North Texas cities
  • Experience writing proposals and taking part in interviews
  • Construction phase services experience
  • Driven, takes ownership, and wants their stamp on plans that are right by their own standards
