Based in Taupō and reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, this Project Manager role plans, executes and oversees assigned projects to ensure they are delivered safely, to specification and quality requirements, within budget and agreed timeframes. 

You’ll manage the full project lifecycle, from estimation, pricing and scheduling through to delivery, financial control and closeout. 

Working closely with field teams, works managers, supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders, you’ll coordinate resources, maintain accurate reporting and documentation, and support practical delivery outcomes in a field-focused environment. 

Experience in high-voltage transmission, generation or broader electrical operations environments would be advantageous. 

In this role, you will:

  • Manage multiple concurrent electricity-related projects, ensuring delivery to scope, budget and agreed timeframes. 
  • Prepare accurate estimates, quotations, pricing proposals and project documentation. 
  • Plan schedules, monitor progress and keep delivery on track against scope, budget and timeframes. 
  • Work closely with works managers, supervisors and field teams to support project delivery, pricing and scheduling. 
  • Coordinate people, subcontractors, suppliers, materials and equipment against project plans. 
  • Monitor expenditure and revenue, manage variations, complete financial forecasts and support project reviews. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, clients, connected parties and external stakeholders. 
  • Champion safe, environmentally responsible work practices and support strong risk and hazard management.

You’ll be an organised and self-managing project professional who is comfortable working across multiple stakeholders and balancing competing priorities. You’ll bring strong communication skills, sound judgement and a practical approach to getting work delivered safely and well. 

Essential requirements:

  • A current driver’s licence for the applicable vehicle classes. 
  • A Transpower Works Management qualification, either held or currently being worked towards. 
  • Strong time management and organisational skills. 
  • The ability to work alone safely and efficiently. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Computer capability across core Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel.

Desirable experience and qualifications:

  • A relevant project management or electrical trade qualification. 
  • Knowledge of electrical industry safety and statutory requirements. 
  • Practical knowledge of electrical engineering principles and high-voltage transmission or generation operations. 
  • Leadership and mentoring capability, with a collaborative approach to teamwork. 
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
