The Role
Lead software and business-systems projects from initiation through release. Define requirements, clarify project goals, manage scope and timelines, coordinate engineering and cross-functional stakeholders, track risks, and align priorities with customer needs. The role also contributes to portfolio roadmaps, process improvement, strategic project selection, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Summary Generated by Built In

SEL R&D's Development Integration team builds and maintains the data tools and systems that keep engineering data accurate, controlled, and available. We work across the enterprise to deliver software that delights users and lets information flow between divisions. We also have big plans for the future of data management at SEL – we’re looking for a Project Manager I/II/III to join us in the pursuit. Could it be you?

In this role, you'll do more than the core Agile work that keeps our team running: you'll play a key part in engaging our stakeholders, making sure we're not just completing projects, but the right projects. You'll work in lock-step with customers, developers, and systems architects to build comprehensive portfolio roadmaps, steering the team toward the strongest possible solution with real influence over the systems we build. That includes partnering with other project managers across the organization, so what we build becomes a catalyst for project execution across the company.

What we’re looking for in a Project Manager to join us:

•   You take pride in your craft. Planning, tracking, and follow-through aren't busywork to you, they're craft. You take pride in a project run well.

•   You own the "why," not just the "when." You'll help uncover what people truly need, shape clear project requirements, and plan carefully, so the work only starts once the problem is well understood.

•   You get to the root of things. We take the time to understand what's really going on, and when something deserves a deeper fix, we help steward it forward, even when we aren't the ones implementing it.

•   You build bridges. You'll bring together engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and other partners so that our decisions reflect the bigger picture.

•   You grow as we grow. New tools, new methods, new problems. There's always room to learn, including Python coding, automation, or AI if that excites you.

•   You leave things better than you found them. Every project is a chance to simplify, streamline, and remove friction, not just ship and move on.

•   You care, and it shows. You stay motivated by real customer outcomes, and you look out for your own team just as much, making sure the people you serve and the people you work with feel heard and supported.

What you'll do day-to-day:

•   Lead projects from initiation to release, keeping scope, timeline, and priorities clear

•   Engage with customers and stakeholders to balance team priorities

•   Turn fuzzy problems into clear goals, requirements, and plans the team can act on

•   Coordinate across teams and keep everyone aligned, informed, and moving

•   Analyze when to make big bets or take the small wins on project scope

•   Track progress, surface risks early, and keep work honest and on course

•   Help decide what we take on, and just as importantly, what we don't

•   Celebrate wins, learn from misses, and keep improving how we work

Nice to have (not required):

•   PMP or CAPM certification, or actively working toward one

•   Familiarity with the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) or Microsoft 365 products

•   Interest in modern, data-driven project management practices

•   Curiosity about how tools, processes, and people fit together

•   Comfort working across teams and translating between technical and non-technical partners

•   A bias toward simplicity and asking "why" before "how"

•   Experience delivering software or improving business systems and workflows

We're open to all experience levels.

We believe most big challenges come down to fundamentals we already know how to solve, and we're looking for someone who shares that mindset.
