The purpose of this position is to lead and manage allocated bids and/or projects in the Secure Information Communications business.
 

Duties will cover all aspects of Bid & Project Management including:
• Leading and managing assembled bid/project teams to meet business objectives,
• Ensuring the project objectives in relation to cost, time, safety and quality are exceeded,
• Strategically leading the development of high quality and competitive bid offers,
• Adherence to, and improvement of the Thales Bids & Project Management Governance framework

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Bids and Project Manager, you are accountable for:

  • Leading and managing Bids and Projects in accordance with Thales guidelines ensuring it addresses the objectives of the business.
  • Engaging transversally across functional areas to optimise resource allocation for bid activities.
  • Strategic management of stakeholders and associated communications both external and internal.
  • Building and enriching customer experience by ensuring products and services delivered exceed where possible, customer expectations
  • Take leadership role developing a winning strategy with specific win themes and ensuring it translates into a compelling offer.
  • Organising and conducting gate reviews in accordance with Thales Governance framework.
  • Managing and improving Bid and Project integrated schedule, budget, baselines, risks and opportunities.
  • Coordinating and negotiating input from suppliers and partners and oversea subcontracts.
  • Preparing and presenting all internal and customer reporting requirements.
  • Actively participate in the development and achievement of Thales functional objectives and strategies.
  • Identify lead KPI’s and conduct complex analysis to provide early alert to the business of all significant emerging variances and risks.
  • Develop mitigation strategies to counter variances and risks

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:

  • Degree qualified in business, engineering, project management or other suitable discipline.
  • IPMA Certification or ability to secure certification.
  • Proven and effective leadership skills with a high level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
  • At least five years’ Bid and Project Management experience at a senior level with multi-partners / major co-contractors.
  • Ability to lead in an international environment in diverse cultures, multicultural and unstable arena concerning one or several stakeholders.
  • Experience working with complex Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • The confidence and maturity of judgement to represent the company at high levels with customer organisations both nationally and internationally.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop high performing teams.
  • Exceptional written communication skills including authoring content and editing.
  • Strong internal stakeholder management in a matrix organisation.
  • Exceptional customer focus and external relationship management.
  • Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity to make effective commercial and financial decisions.

Prior to being offered employment, you will need to complete pre-employment police and (role dependent) medical checks. Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain NV1 security clearance.
