About Us
Damen Technical Cooperation (DTC) is a sub-division of the Offshore and Specialized Vessel Division and enables the Damen Group to generate income out of intellectual property and processes available within the Damen Group.
The DTC business model enables our customers to build ships for (and in) their own markets. The DTC products and services include Damen design licenses, engineering packages, materials, consultancy, technical support, training or a combination of these. Our aim is to develop long-term relationships by changing our customers into partners. DTC customers are end-users (i.e. ship owners, governments), shipyards and other Damen divisions.
DTC can adapt existing, proven and new Damen designs to meet specific local needs and requirements. With our extensive knowledge of all the elements that are involved with executing projects on our customers' premises we are a reliable partner, providing our customers with information and advice on how to execute a shipbuilding project in a controlled way. Our main focus is on proven Damen products.
As Project Manager, you will be assigned to DTC Project Management Department and will report to the Manager Projects DTC. The Project Management department within Damen Technical Cooperation is responsible for the execution of the contracts, which can vary in terms of scope for every project. Most projects include at least an engineering package, material package and technical support.
The role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, communicative Project Manager for our DTC Project Management Department. The vacancy is for 40 hours per week and based in our head office in Gorinchem.
As Project Manager within Damen Technical Cooperation, you will play a vital role in the successful delivery of our services, to be able to build a vessel at a non-Damen yard. It is your task to guarantee on time delivery, within budget, and in accordance with the quality specifications set by different stakeholders. As a Project Manager you will manage a multi-disciplinary team and be accountable for managing the engineering, supply chain and sometimes also production activities for our vessels built at international yards.
Key accountabilities
Your tasks & responsibilities as Project Manager include:
- Assisting in Kicking off the project, determining the scope of work and drawing-up the project plans and deliverables in collaboration with a Project Team;
- Monitoring progress of Engineering, deliverables of Supply Chain and progress of Production to ensure timely delivery of the vessel(s) to our customers;
- Identifying Project Risks and determining mitigation actions;
- Informing stakeholders on a regular basis with project status regarding, timing, quality, risks, costs and contractual requirements;
- Managing of disturbances in the process which might impact time, quality and costs;
- Delivery of our services to clients, fulfilling our contractual requirements and handing over the project after successful delivery to our Services department responsible for the warranty project;
- Following up the vessel during the warranty phase to ensure feedback for product improvement;
- Improving processes and products at design and detail level in relation to the various sub-processes, such as the engineering, construction, and procurement processes, and a reduction of failure costs and an improvement in quality.
Skills & experience
- Bachelor or Master preferable in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Maritime Technology or Electric and automation;
- Proven in experience in Project Management in a multi-disciplinary team;
- Preferably at least 3-5 years experience in a similar position preferably in a Maritime environment;
- The ability to set priorities, take a process-centered approach, and maintain overview;
- Organizational skills, a quality conscious focus and a flexible and customer-oriented personality.;
- Team player who is able to oversee the red lines in project and socially skilled, motivating the team to go the extra mile;
- Result oriented with a keen eye for organizational sensitivity;
- Communicative with all levels from production to executive level;
- Good communication skills (both oral and written) in both Dutch and English.
