The Project Manager will serve as the overall leader responsible for the successful delivery of a landmark international-standard hospital project, overseeing the full project lifecycle from planning through execution, commissioning, and handover. The role is accountable for ensuring the project is delivered on time, within budget, to the highest quality standards, and in full compliance with Nigerian regulations and international healthcare construction requirements. The Project Manager will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage stakeholders, and drive execution excellence across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Project Leadership & Governance
- Provide overall leadership and direction across the entire project lifecycle
- Develop and implement the Project Execution Plan (PEP)
- Establish project governance structures, reporting lines, and decision frameworks
- Serve as the primary authority on all project-related matters
2. Planning, Scheduling & Delivery
- Develop and manage integrated project schedules (Primavera P6 / MS Project)
- Ensure alignment between design, procurement, construction, and commissioning
- Monitor progress and implement corrective actions where requireD
- Drive timely delivery of all project milestones
3. Cost Management & Financial Control
- Oversee project budgeting, cost control, and financial performance
- Monitor expenditures against approved budgets
- Collaborate with Commercial and Finance teams on cash flow planning
- Approve financial commitments in line with delegated authority
4. Construction Oversight
- Oversee all construction activities including civil, structural, architectural, and MEP works
- Ensure works are executed according to approved drawings and specifications
- Resolve technical and operational challenges proactively
- Ensure productivity and efficiency across site operations
5. Design & Technical Coordination
- Ensure effective coordination between design consultants and construction teams
- Manage design changes and ensure constructability of all solutions
- Oversee technical approvals, shop drawings, and design integration
6. Procurement & Contracts Coordination
- Oversee procurement strategy and ensure timely sourcing of materials and services
- Coordinate with Commercial & Contracts team on contract administration
- Review and approve key contracts, variations, and claims
7. Health, Safety & Quality (HSE/QAQC)
- Enforce strict HSE compliance with a target of zero incidents
- Promote a strong safety culture across all site personnel
- Ensure implementation of QA/QC systems to achieve zero critical defects
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and performance reviews
8. Risk Management
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Maintain and review project risk registers
- Lead recovery plans for schedule or cost deviations
9. Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary interface with: Managing Director / Board, Consultants and contractors, Regulatory authorities, External stakeholders
- Provide executive-level reports, dashboards, and updates
- Manage stakeholder expectations and resolve conflicts
10. Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary teaM
- Set performance targets and conduct regular evaluations
- Promote accountability, collaboration, and excellence
- Drive capacity building and knowledge transfer
11. Project Close-Out & Handover
- Oversee commissioning, testing, and handover processes
- Ensure completion of all documentation (as-built drawings, certifications, warranties)
- Support transition to operations and facilities management teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
- Master’s degree is an advantage
- Professional certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) preferred
- Minimum 15–20 years of experience in construction project management
- Proven track record delivering large-scale hospital, high-rise, or infrastructure project
- Proficiency in: Primavera P6, MS Project, ERP systems
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing
- Knowledge of contract management (FIDIC or equivalent)
- Ability to interpret complex drawings and technical documentation
- Strategic leadership and decision-making
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
