The role: 
Join our team as a senior project manager where you will provide DMV business units with the definition and justification of proposed information technology (IT) related projects that support the agency’s goals. Serving as part of the leadership team, you will oversee business processes, assemble and guide teams through assigned projects, serve as a consultant to DMV leaders on design, implementation and optimization of business processes, conduct assessments related to business architecture, develop and implement standards, oversee improvement efforts, and much more. A day in the life:

  • Serve as designated business architect for major IT related projects.

  • Assemble teams to support major IT related projects.

  • Monitor performance of team members.

  • Develop division level project portfolio. Review strategic planning goals and deliverables, work with staff to propose business focused impacts.

  • Guide non-IT business initiatives for DMV units.

  • Coordinate and facilitate team meetings.

  • Assist with definition and justification of IT related projects.

  • Develop, implement and maintain business architecture policies, processes and procedures.

  • Partner with agency colleagues to develop a comprehensive repository of DMV’s business functions.

  • Guide process improvements for standardization efforts.

  • Provide advice and develop recommendations for DMV management.

  • Participate in various meetings, forums and focus groups.

  • Occasional travel to DMV offices and other locations throughout the state is required.

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with at least one day in the office per month for team meetings.

Minimum qualifications:
Seven years of professional level experience related to the class concept; 
OR
Six years of professional level experience related to the class concept  AND an Oregon Project Management Associate Certification; 
OR
Four years of professional level experience related to the class concept  AND a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, or a closely related field; 
OR
Two years of professional level experience AND Project Management Professional Certification awarded by the Project Management Institute.

  • Demonstrated experience with portfolio management methodologies and best practices.

  • Experience using procurement and project oversight framework systems similar to Oregon Buys and DAS/EIS Stage Gate.

  • Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or comparable project management credential.
