Job Overview
Project Managers plan, initiate, and oversee execution of a project, working with multiple internal teams, contractors, and clients. Project managers serve as the liaison between the client and the different stakeholders involved in the project. They are involved in discussions with the client and Account Manager to ensure they have a clear understanding of the client's expectations and desired outcome. The project manager is responsible for maintaining a broad overall view of the entire project, which means he/she delegates certain tasks to Project Coordinators or other team members.
The project manager is the one ultimately responsible for the final quality of a project, ensuring that it's delivered on time and to the client's satisfaction. For this reason, project management is more of a leadership role, one that frequently involves trusting others with completion of specific parts or stages of a plan or process.
Being ultimately responsible also means the project manager is in charge of managing issues, conflicts or emergencies that may arise, as well as coming up with alternative solutions if the initial plan can’t be carried out for some reason.
