The Role

This role is part of the Iberia Change Team, mostly based in Lisbon, consisting of business analysts and project managers who work closely with the various business and EU functions in order to deliver a portfolio of strategic, operational and regulatory change and achieve tangible business benefits.

The main focus of this role is leading the successful delivery of strategic change, digital and operational excellence initiatives in Iberia, an also leading and managing components of our large transformation programmes that are in flight. This role requires strong project management with different complexity levels combined with an ability to connect and work effectively with various stakeholders. The projects are varied from performing market and business performance assessments, supporting the deep dive on strategic assessments to improvement of organizational effectiveness, customer experience, operational excellence, selecting and applying innovative technology to business problems (e.g. robotics, natural language processing) and/or compliance with regulatory requirements with a direct or indirect impact on the P&L of the Spanish business.

During the 1st year, this role, while acting as PMO will be responsible for supporting the Leap project by providing project management support to ensure the successful delivery of the project's objectives. The PMO will work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to facilitate the planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of project activities.

Leap: Is a technology program to replace the core system across all geographical countries at Hiscox. The soluction is live already for some countries and Spain & Portugal are next.

Key responsibilities

  • Build strong productive relationships with the managers and staff within the Business and across IT & EU functions in order to facilitate effective business change based on a deep understanding of the business drivers of each party

  • Develop and execute project plans to identify and manage project requirements, resources and dependencies

  • Ensure that the direction of each project is achieving the agreed goals, on time and to budget; solving problems, mitigating risks

  • Design, implement and monitor metrics to track the progress and success of programs, and to highlight issues on a timely basis

  • Manage the project team and guide the business analysts and SMEs to the outcomes agreed upon

  • Communicate frequently and comprehensively to ensure the alignment and support of the teams involved in Iberia, IT and Change EU

  • Actively support local business owners to drive change

  • Manage stakeholders to ensure buy-in and support, that they are kept updated of the progress of the projects status and that what is delivered meets their needs

  • Lead change initiatives by deploying effectively Hiscox project management methodologies and best practices and actively work in embedding such methodologies and frameworks when conducting projects

  • Challenge business and make sure to keep the deliverables aligned with the IT and overall Hiscox Europe strategies

As PMO:

  • Monitor project progress and performance to ensure adherence to deadlines, standards, and budget requirements

  • Coordinate communication between project team members and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and information sharing

  • Support the project manager in risk management and issue resolution processes.

  • Facilitate project meetings and document meeting outcomes and action items

  • Provide administrative support to the project team as needed, including the preparation of reports and presentations for project steering committees and other governance bodies

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes and tools

Technical must-haves

  • Masters’ degree ideally in Management / Economics / Engineering (or similar)

  • 5 years of experience in strategic, operational and/or technological consulting, ideally having worked on digital transformation projects and/or with exposure to the insurance business

  • At least 3 years of proven experience in a PMO or project support role, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry is preferred

  • Experience in leading technology projects in complex multicultural organisations is preferred

  • Experience in participating and/or leading projects using agile methodology

  • Strong Project Management skills – PMP and/or CIPP/E or similar qualifications would be an advantage

  • Proficient in Powerpoint, Excel and other Microsoft Office tools

  • Knowledge of Lean methodologies is preferred

  • Fluent in English, verbally and written

  • Knowledge of Spanish would be of interest

  • Has interest in different topics (e.g. strategic, digital and operational, regulatory) and is able to switch from one to the other with ease

  • Experience in leading the full project lifecycle from initial concept through to delivery, subsequent lessons learned and benefits measurement processes

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to work with people at all levels within, and external to, the business and the functions

  • Be a confident communicator

  • Commitment to quality, service and personal ownership

  • Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and multi-cultural environment

  • Ability to navigate ambiguous situations, identify and solve blockers with minimal guidance, know how to build cross-organizational partnership
