Project Manager - Mechanical

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager – Mechanical to lead and deliver mechanical engineering packages for mission-critical data center projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of HVAC, chilled water systems, CRAC/CRAH units, and mechanical controls, and be able to manage complex construction and infrastructure deployments from design through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage the mechanical scope of work for data center projects, including HVAC, chillers, piping, ventilation, and BMS interfaces.
- Manage internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and vendors to deliver mechanical systems on time, within budget, and to specification.
- Review mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications; ensure alignment with client requirements, codes, and standards.
- Monitor progress and performance of mechanical contractors, conduct site inspections, and oversee installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Enforce quality control, health and safety compliance, and ensure adherence to local and international mechanical engineering standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.).
- Manage cost tracking, budgeting, procurement planning, and change control processes for mechanical components.
- Collaborate with electrical, civil, and controls teams to ensure integrated system delivery.
- Maintain project documentation including RFIs, submittals, reports, and punch lists.
- Identify and mitigate mechanical risks and resolve issues as they arise.
- Deliver weekly progress updates and reports to senior stakeholders and clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification is preferred.
- Minimum 5-8 years of mechanical project management experience, including at least 3 years on data center or mission-critical projects.
- Strong knowledge of data center mechanical infrastructure including chilled water systems, DX cooling, economizers, CRAC/CRAH units, etc.
- Familiarity with local codes and international standards (ASHRAE, ISO, NFPA).
- Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project or Primavera.
- Effective communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work on-site and travel as needed.
- Previous experience working in fast growing, international environments.
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
