Value engineering from a sourcing point of view
We are a function with the aim to optimize the value of our new products by increasing the focus on value and cost during our New Product Development (NPD). As Project Manager, you will be responsible for taking design for value and cost into our products from early concept phase to mass production.
The team you will be part of
You will be part of our Operations & Project Management team in Global Operations developing or facilitating key cross functional projects as part of strategic initiatives (“must-win battles”) with value or savings impact from operations and sourcing point of view.
Your contribution is appreciated, and you will
- Support the organization with value/cost analysis on our products
- Investigate and motivate for cost effective design and manufacturability on key components, e.g. via mapping of value/cost opportunities related to roadmap, product and design options
- Responsible for cost targets and running estimate for ramp up in development projects
- Support building positive business cases together with R&D & Product Marketing
- Facilitate and conduct project reviews related to Design for Value and Design for Manufacturing
- Follow up and guard the cost in NPD by working with R&D on their suggested, specification, manufacturing or material selection
Your role will also be to bring in new technologies and innovation to the NPD and you will play a significant role in approving targets and results before certain milestones can be passed during the NPD phase.
Your direct report is Director of Operations & Project Management Hearing, Kenneth Pilgaard and your daily work will be with both internal and external stakeholders.
To succeed in the role, we imagine that you besides a technical mindset and a good business understanding have the following competencies:
- You hold a degree in engineering
- You have several years of experience within sourcing and handling cost in an R&D environment
- You have project management experience supplemented by good negotiation skills
- You solve both technical and commercial issues
- You have a high general understanding of manufacturing processes and industrialization
- You have experience within LEAN, Six Sigma, Design for Value & Cost or Asian sourcing is a clear advantage
- You are fluent in written and spoken English
To grow in the position, you have an extrovert personality and good facilitation skills enabling you to network and influence people in a proactive way. You have good analytical and problem- solving skills which you make use of to identify issues and suggest solutions.
