Position OverviewThe Industrial Refrigeration Project Manager leads refrigeration projects from planning and design coordination through installation, commissioning, and final turnover. This role works closely with engineering teams, field personnel, contractors, vendors, and customers to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Management- Manage industrial refrigeration installations, upgrades, expansions, and retrofit projects from kickoff through completion.
- Develop and maintain project scopes, schedules, budgets, milestones, and deliverables.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, equipment selection, fabrication, construction, and field activities.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address scheduling, material, labor, or technical issues.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Review engineering drawings, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and other project documentation.
- Coordinate with engineering and field teams to resolve technical and installation challenges.
- Support projects involving ammonia (NH3), CO2, and other industrial refrigeration systems.
- Help ensure projects comply with applicable IIAR, ASHRAE, OSHA, and industry standards.
- Develop and manage project budgets and cost forecasts.
- Track labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and overall project performance.
- Review invoices, purchase requirements, and change orders.
- Identify opportunities to control costs while maintaining safety, quality, and project requirements.
- Promote and enforce IR Pros' safety expectations throughout every project.
- Work with field leadership to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable safety requirements.
- Support hazard analyses, project documentation, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ensure project documentation is maintained for closeout and compliance purposes.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide clear and timely updates regarding project schedules, progress, challenges, and changes.
- Coordinate with customers, contractors, vendors, engineering teams, and field personnel.
- Address project concerns quickly and professionally.
- Coordinate project closeout, final documentation, and turnover to the customer and/or service team.
- 5+ years of project management experience in industrial refrigeration, mechanical contracting, or a closely related industry.
- Industrial refrigeration experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with ammonia (NH3) and/or CO2 refrigeration systems preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical construction, project scheduling, budgeting, and field operations.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will also be considered.

- Combination of office, customer-site, and field-based work.
- Regular interaction with construction sites, mechanical rooms, cold-storage facilities, and operating industrial refrigeration systems.
- Travel to customer and project locations as required.
