Forte & Tablada is looking for an experienced Project Lead – Land Surveying who is ready to take greater ownership of project execution and help lead surveying work from kickoff through final deliverable.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands how successful survey projects come together, both in the field and in the office. You’ll coordinate field crews, CAD technicians, and technical staff while helping manage schedules, resources, budgets, quality, and project priorities. You’ll work closely with the Group Leader while serving as the day-to-day driver of your assigned projects.

If you’re technically strong, organized, proactive, and enjoy being the person who brings the pieces of a project together, this could be a great next step in your surveying career.

As a Project Lead, you’ll have meaningful ownership of project execution. You’ll be counted on to anticipate what comes next, communicate when something needs attention, and give your team the direction they need to deliver quality work.

You’ll:

  • Lead the day-to-day execution of assigned land surveying and geospatial projects from project initiation through final deliverable.

  • Coordinate field crews, CAD technicians, and technical staff to keep projects moving efficiently and maintain project momentum.

  • Monitor project progress and work with the Group Leader to stay aligned on scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, and resource needs.

  • Connect field and office operations, helping ensure project information, priorities, and deliverable requirements stay aligned.

  • Identify potential project risks, scheduling impacts, staffing conflicts, and technical challenges before they become larger problems.

  • Provide technical direction to field and office team members regarding project scope, methodology, and deliverable requirements.

  • Perform first-pass technical and quality reviews of deliverables before Group Leader review.

  • Help maintain company, client, surveying, mapping, and geospatial quality standards across project deliverables.

  • Participate in project meetings and serve as a technical point of contact for assigned project matters.

  • Help develop project schedules, manpower plans, and task assignments.

  • Support proposal development, scopes, fee estimates, and project planning.

  • Mentor field and office staff through technical guidance, training, and project review.

 The strongest candidates will bring:

  • Hands-on experience with land surveying projects and workflows.

  • A strong understanding of how field and office surveying operations work together.

  • Experience coordinating field crews, CAD/technical staff, or multidisciplinary project resources.

  • Strong technical judgment and the ability to review work for accuracy and quality.

  • The ability to organize multiple moving pieces and maintain focus on project scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables.

  • A proactive approach to identifying problems and communicating what the team needs to keep a project moving.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • The ability to provide clear technical direction while helping develop less-experienced team members.

  • A sense of ownership and accountability for project outcomes.

The Project Lead sits at the center of project delivery, connecting the people performing the work with the scope, schedule, quality expectations, and resources needed to get it done. You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership, solve problems, develop others, and play a meaningful role in how surveying projects are delivered. This positioning reflects the internal expectation that the Project Lead functions as the operational hub of assigned projects.
