The Project Engineer serves as a key member of the Network Engineering organization, responsible for leading the planning, coordination, execution, and successful delivery of infrastructure projects supporting enterprise LAN, WAN, and Firewall environments across the NASA enterprise. This position serves as the primary interface between engineering teams, operations personnel, project managers, vendors, and customer stakeholders to ensure technical initiatives are executed in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk management objectives.
The successful candidate will apply project management principles and technical expertise to oversee multiple concurrent projects, manage project lifecycles from initiation through closeout, and ensure successful implementation of network modernization, technology refresh, cybersecurity, and infrastructure enhancement initiatives. This role requires a strong combination of technical acumen, organizational leadership, stakeholder management, and project execution capabilities within a mission-critical environment.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Management, or a related discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience managing or coordinating technical infrastructure projects in enterprise network environments.
- Strong understanding of LAN, WAN, Firewall, and network security technologies.

- Experience supporting Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), project baselines, and milestone tracking.
- Knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting, labor planning, and resource management.
- Experience supporting contractual deliverables, project governance reviews, and executive reporting requirements.
- Working knowledge of:

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of LAN, WAN, and Firewall engineering projects through all phases of the project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), implementation plans, and project documentation.
- Coordinate technical resources across engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and vendor organizations to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Monitor project scope, schedule, cost, quality, and performance metrics to ensure successful project delivery.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies while developing mitigation and contingency plans.
- Facilitate project status meetings, technical reviews, milestone reviews, and stakeholder engagements.
- Prepare and deliver project status reports, executive briefings, dashboards, and customer communications.
