This is an opportunity to step into a role with real ownership, where you’ll contribute to planning, commercial performance, and successful project delivery, not just execution on site.
Mō te tūranga | About the role
As a Project Engineer, you’ll work closely with the Project Manager to drive the successful delivery of projects from planning through to completion. You’ll take ownership of key project functions including programming, cost control, subcontractor management, and stakeholder coordination.
While you’ll still maintain a presence on site, your focus will be on ensuring projects are well planned, commercially sound, and delivered efficiently.

Supporting the Project Manager with project planning, methodology development, and delivery strategy
Developing and maintaining project programmes, ensuring alignment with budgets and timelines
Monitoring and managing project costs, forecasts, and financial performance
Procuring and managing subcontractors, suppliers, and key project resources
Preparing and reviewing project documentation, including reporting, contracts, and variations
Identifying and managing project risks and opportunities
Building strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders
Ensuring projects meet safety, quality, and environmental standards

A tertiary qualification in Engineering, ideally a Bachelor of Civil Engineering or similar
Proven experience as an Engineer within infrastructure or contracting environments (around 5+ years)
Strong working knowledge of project delivery and project management principles
Experience supporting or leading day‑to‑day site operations, including documentation, programming, and cost control
A safety‑first mindset, with a solid understanding of relevant legislation and good engineering practice
The ability to lead, motivate, and work collaboratively with site teams and contractors
A full Class 1 driver’s licence

Skills Required
