We’re looking for a Project Engineer to join our Projects team in Central Otago. You’ll support the Project Manager with the day‑to‑day delivery of projects, lead skilled engineering activities on site, and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification. Helping us deliver good work and build high‑quality infrastructure our communities rely on.
Mō te tūranga | About the role
As a Project Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the delivery of infrastructure projects, supporting the Project Manager and taking ownership of day‑to‑day engineering activities. This is a hands‑on, site‑based role with time split between working on site, coordinating teams, and managing project documentation.
You’ll be close to the action, solving problems, leading by example, and ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification. Your work makes a real difference by helping deliver reliable, high‑quality infrastructure for our communities.

Lead on‑site engineering activities to deliver infrastructure projects safely, efficiently, and to specification
Support the Project Manager with day‑to‑day project delivery, planning, and problem‑solving
Coordinate site teams, contractors, and resources to keep work progressing as planned
Prepare and manage project documentation, programming, and cost estimates to required standards and timeframes
Champion safety, quality, and environmental practices, leading by example on site

A tertiary qualification in Engineering, ideally a Bachelor of Civil Engineering or similar
Proven experience as an Engineer within infrastructure or contracting environments (around 5+ years)
Strong working knowledge of project delivery and project management principles
Experience supporting or leading day‑to‑day site operations, including documentation, programming, and cost control
A safety‑first mindset, with a solid understanding of relevant legislation and good engineering practice
The ability to lead, motivate, and work collaboratively with site teams and contractors
A full Class 1 driver’s licence
