As a Project Engineer at our Upplands Väsby Plant (home of Marabou), you will be instrumental in planning, developing, and executing capital projects. You will drive technical developments, assess the feasibility of engineering activities within the supply chain, and manage capital investment projects to drive growth, world-class manufacturing, and productivity while upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental responsibility. You will work in alignment with Mondelēz's business processes, ensuring company standards and consistently met.
How You Will Contribute
In this role, you will lead a portion of the Project Engineering agenda within Sweden and oversee specific areas of the Site strategy, aligning with site compliance, productivity, and development objectives. You will develop and implement multiple projects across the site,
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and deliver technical and capital plans during the development phases of investment projects, ensuring budget and timeline control and appropriate technical solutions.

  • Project scope could cover many areas but especially mass making, moulding & forming processes, packaging, palletising and site infrastructure & utilities planning.

  • Concurrently manage a portfolio of projects (upwards of $1-2MM/annum) with local teams during the complete project cycle. You will lead project teams consisting of Maintenance, HSE, Quality, Facilities, Operations, and Logistics.

  • Design fit-for-purpose technical solutions, develop and implement of state-of-the-art processes and equipment strategies to optimize resources, harmonize assets, and roll out best practices. Create detailed equipment and process studies and specifications, conduct DOEs, drive commissioning and qualification testing, documenting all through technical reports. Share and learn from best practices around Mondelēz's global network.

  • Work closely with Regional RDQ, Supply Chain and Business Development teams to deliver on Regional Productivity and Innovation programs.

  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of state-of-the-art processes and equipment strategies, together with local process engineering and RDQ.

  • Create and control budget in accordance with contractual obligations, including accurate forecasting of cash flow, finding the best value for cost for chosen schemes.

  • Management of external equipment suppliers and construction groups, running the RFI/RFP/RFQ cycle, and conducting formalized bids with Procurement. Once kicked off, management of supplier(s) technical deliverables, and project delivery safely, on time, in cost, and in quality.

  • Manage detailed time plans in standard project management software. Clearly defining work packages, tasks, durations, connecting dependencies, allocating resources, and setting realistic deadlines, while accounting for potential risks.

  • Utilize technical expertise to support in the site Master Planning cycle (equipment and infrastructure planning on a 5 year horizon).

  • Ensure the implementation of engineering safety, quality, hygiene and environmental standards according to Mondelēz Global Specifications and regional requirements.

  • Continuous improvement of existing practices, methods and technology. Proactively seeking opportunities to improve factory efficiency, safety and quality, driving several capital projects, to help deliver the site agenda.

  • A thorough and continue professional development in understanding of all aspects of confectionery making, wrapping, packing and services, particularly within the Chocolate category is developed, and external supplier developments are kept up to date with.

  • You will also support the broader site and regional teams as a key technical expert, leading significant projects. Some travel to any of the European Confectionery plants can be expected.

What You Will Bring
A desire to drive your future and accelerate your career, with experience and knowledge in:
  • Project Management: Effectively lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Experience leading multi-million Euro Capex projects in manufacturing environments, dealing with equipment, process development, and/or infrastructure and media planning.

  • Technical Expertise: High-level technical experience in engineering disciplines.

  • Lean manufacturing / TPM experience.

  • Experience managing suppliers and contractors in a manufacturing or construction environment.

  • Relevant experience in Project Management and / or Engineering - ideally within food, pharmaceutical, and/or consumer goods industry.

  • Leading and working effectively across cross-functional teams, with the ability to influence stakeholders.

  • Technical expertise across engineering disciplines and a passion to drive efficiencies and technology forward.

  • AutoCAD and MS office suite proficiency. MS Project or other relevant planning software.

  • This is a full-time, office-based role located at our Upplands Väsby site, Sweden.

  • English and Swedish working proficiency.
